Steering wheel controls

Hi all,

I've had my MG4 Trophy for about 3 months and still feel like I'm learning new things with it.
Overall I'm very pleased with the car, however I have one big frustration with the steering controls. I've tried to search through the forum for help but couldn't find anything - or maybe my search prowess is lacking...

Essentially, the controls on the steering wheel don't seem to be linked to the display in any meaningful way... If I'm making a call and there are 3 options on the screen, I can't do it from the steering wheel at all, only via touchscreen. I have 2 'joysticks' and lots of buttons but can't make a phone call hands-free.

Voice command is useful, but limited - especially if you have people in your contacts with more than 1 number.

I've been exploring Android Auto to see if this is a more user-friendly option (via AAWireless2 connector) however I keep thinking I'm missing something. Maybe "make the steering controls useful" checkbox in a buried options menu somewhere.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

AA works great for making/receiving calls ... press and hold the Voice button (left-top of steering wheel) until Google bleeps and then just say "Call [whomsoever]". Likewise I think you can press the phone button when a call is received to answer it, although I tend to just tap the answer button on the screen as I'm glancing there anyway to see who is calling.

Strangely, perhaps not for MG, the steering wheel controls are covered in the MG4 iSmart manual. Search the website for MG4 iSmart manual. I found it on manualslib.com.
