This applies to both slow and rapid chargers, can you switch on in either ready or standby whilst charging ?

I understand Ready is better as it avoids running down the 12 volt battery (this may just apply to DC rapid chargers).

Will the 12 volt not charge regardless as it's plugged in ?
On AC charger it will charge but not on a Rapid - gleaned from comments by others, not something I have tested personally.
If the 12v display doesn't show 14 volts then it isn't charging.

I suppose the logic could be that if you're rapid charging then you're also doing long journeys, so the 12v gets enough charge when you're travelling.

Rapid chargers effectively bypass the cars AC -> DC charger.
The 12volt battery is either charged from the on board AC charger or a DC-DC charger from the HV battery in ready mode

My understanding is that any time that the main contactors are on (ready or charging, AC or DC), the same internal DC-DC converter charges the auxiliary (12V) battery.
