After charging my car, it wouldn't turn off and I couldn't get it into gear. It showed the message

Vehicle Control System Fault
After 30 minutes, it seemed to re-set itself. Any advice as to why this would happen?

You'll need to read the fault code to answer that question.

Thanks, but where would I find this code, or do I need to take it to the dealer for that?

Best to search MG forum for any keywords, see this, might help

Hi Fred. I booked my MG ZS in and told them I had a Vehicle Control System Fault message (the car wouldn't start after I had charged it). They messaged me "done loads of software errors in fault memory all updated and cleared"
My question now is, how often should I be getting software updates?

good news it's hopefully sorted. I have 2022 model and everything works so I'm not at all bothered with any updates and to be honest I would rather not have them, just in case something that now works, stops working ...

service the car regularly and if everything works, I would just relax and enjoy the drive 🙂

just a 5-10 minute break (lock the car), grab a coffee helped in my case a couple of times (MG ZS EV Spring 2023 model). It happens often after a Fast charging stop, even when I start charging when NOT in Ready-mode.
