Tailgate issues

I noticed the bottom three wires for rear window de-misting do not work. On closer inspection of the rear de-mist wires I noticed the lower three are a separate 'circuit'. I activated the function from the physical button, but only the upper section heated.

Also - earlier today I couldn't open the boot after a journey. Boot was OK at start when putting items in, but would not open an hour later. Tried locking/unlocking the car from the key fob, but the boot release would not activate when pressing the tailgate button. Had to remove stuff by folding down rear seats.
After returning to the car several hours later, it opened OK. Seems strange - in retrospect I wish I'd tried the key fob boot-unlock function but didn't think to at the time.

Has anyone else had similar issue?

It's almost as if the bottom wires are for the non existent rear wiper to defrost it.

The bottom section is part of the radio aerial on the MG5, so probably the same.

I'd go with the aerial theory.

Yes, this is quite common: to use the rear screen to hold the aerial.

I've just had that confirmed by a dealer after I asked why the bottom 3 wired were not heating up, they are the aerial!
