Temperature display or no temperature display !

seems quite strange that after the comfort2 update came out, that any news care is not updated before delivery on the cars PD checks

I think it largely depends on which dealer you use to purchase the car from I think !.
Many appear to be carrying out a basic PDI check and shipping it !.
At a lot of dealers, when the car is offered up for service, they are only applying updated items by customer request it appears.
Unless they are in receipt of a service bulletin from MG and there is some evidence to show that some of these have been strangely missed or applied incorrectly by all accounts.
Dealers who have EV Tech’s that have a lot of previous experience on other EV models, do not have any fear of tackling / applying these types of updates successfully.
Other inexperienced EV Tech’s with very little EV experience are finding it a massive learning curve and appear to be avoiding any problems that could be produced by downloading updates that will give them a headache to fix at a later date.
Applying the “If it’s not broken, don’t try and fix it” attitude.
Leave well alone, unless requested !.

still not very satisfactory, I was told when I asked for my update," you know you can go back", I just said why would anyone

" you know you can go back"
Do they mean take it back to the same dealer who could not get right the first or second time ?.
I think NOT !.
If you employed somebody to fix the hole in your roof and they had two attempts to resolve the problem and you still had water coming into your house, what would do ?.
I would vote with my feet and move on.
Cars are to used, not to be spending time at the dealers trying to complete the same task over and over again.
It easy to “Fall Out Of Love” with a once loved car, when it is spending a lot of time at the garage.
My dear farther use to say to me ( with regards to cars in general ).
“When you start spending more time fixing them, than driving them, it’s time to get shut”.
Wise words, dearly missed - Bless.

As said above:-
Check that your car has ALL of these features listed below, if not you do not have the C2 update that should have been applied FOC before you collected the car !.

Faster system self-check when powering ‘ON’
  • Infotainment volume maintains and restarts at previous volume setting after powering ON/OFF
  • Auto High Beam system disable option available in menu settings
  • General warning chime quality improvements and reduced volume
  • Warning chimes reduced for MG Pilot and Key Reminder
  • Vehicle temperature and temperature alarm featured in the instrument display
  • Vehicle range always on display in instrument pack
  • Vehicle can be unlocked during A/C charging, when re-locked charging automatically resumes
I have part of this software updates but I can't charge in A/D without lock the car.

Then they have missed off a “Tick Box” on the software update.
Apparently they have to go into a few of the cars modules to ensure they get the Comfort 2 update applied 100% correctly.
When I had my Comfort 2 update done in Oct 2020 I could still not charge at home with the doors unlocked.
But when the car went in for its first service in Jan 2021 they applied the latest 15th Jan BMS update and under instruction from the MG Tech team, the dealer then applied any missing updates.
This was due to the dealer being instructed to uploading the data pack from the car to them because after carrying out the service bulletin to replace the driver door wiring loom, the car completely closed down and refused to boot up.
It was stuck on the ramp in the workshop for two days !.
After returning the car, it is performing just fine and will now charge at home with the doors both locked and unlocked.
My suggestion would be, if you really require the feature, then ask the dealer to reapply the C2 update correctly this time.
If it is not a big issue, I would leave well alone !.
If they get right, then happy days.
BUT as in the case of my car, it can all go badly wrong very quickly !.
Just bare in mind, that they they never got right at the first attempt !.
I strongly advise caution ⚠️.

Apparently, charging on A/C is not part of the CF2 update.

It is a separate s/w update that is a 'system enhancement' that the customer has to pay for.

Our car, reg Nov 20 had the CF2 installed but could not charge unlocked. Cost £60ish to install.

But now we have 2 very loud bongs when starting it up, so something is screwed. Will not be taking it back to the dealer.

Have a look at my posts in the what version of s/w is on you car and you can see what s/w was updated.

I did pay for the original C2 update, about £65 ish pounds I think ?.
But they never charged me for applying the software that allows the car to charge when unlocked.
Mind you, they did take £100 from me for the first service, that ended up resulting in a three day holiday for the car at the garage due to the cock up !.
Being able to charge at home with the car unlocked is a handy feature.
You could always be charging, while still cleaning the inside of the car or polishing it outside I guess ?.
No real big deal not having though IMHO.

It is not a problem for me now! I can live without charging with open doors jejeje
