I do not particularly like the built in navigation system and have mainly used CarPlay Apple Maps or Google maps. However, they do not seem well integrated into the car system in that they genera only have an overview of the route with an arrow marking the cars location. I’ve found that Waze is much more like the sat nav’s I’m used to with an always driving from bottom of screen to to top. Am I missing some way of setting Maps or Google to do the same? The problem with Waze being able to plan a route with multiple way points is not possible. Is there even better apps I’ve not mentioned here?

I used a mixture of A Better Route Planner (ABRP) with a Bluetooth ODB module and Waze for the up-to-date route information.

@pjrcarman I think the setting you're looking for is ‘Route Up’ or ‘North Up’ is display settings.

@pjrcarman you definitely have G. Maps set up incorrectly. With route up it will show just like the built-in maps, zooming in when you come to turnings, and back out a bit afterwards. G.Maps also has the option for EV efficient routes.

does that feed off your phone and use your phone's data, or can you input that to the MG4's inbuilt system?

I use the TomTom app via Carplay. It's always been pretty good for me, has speed camera alerts, updates the maps regularly (stored offline do doesn't use data, but you need the space on your phone) and tells you the delay times and alternative if available. If you wait for an offer on the app, you can sometimes get it for free for a limited time, otherwise it's £20 a year).

I'm currently using Tom Tom AmiGO (which is free). Generally seems to work well, although some speed limit indications are "off". (e.g. there's a road which is a 40 limit but AmiGO shows it as 70 ... yet it shows it as 40 coming back the other way). 🤷‍♂️
