Token Expired every. single. day…

Have you tried logging in, then delete cached data, log out before it says token expired, then reboot phone, then log in again?
I think I did this once before, but thanks for the suggestion, can’t do any harm trying it again I guess!

Edit - okay, did exactly as suggested, deleted cache, logged out, then rebooted phone, and logged in again. Will see what happens…

Well, no dice I’m afraid. ‘Token expired’ message again late last night.

I think I’m just going to have to accept that the app, much like the car software, is at best described as clunky…
 
As suggested by others have you tried another device? In particular have you a trusted friend with an android phone to see if the problem remains if they download the app and login using your credentials?

Unfortunately I don’t have any android devices to test, or any friends that I’m aware of using Android. I’ve had it on my old iPhone XR, and newer iPhone 15, and it’s done the same on both. No other app does anything like it, so I’m assuming an app problem rather than a hardware one
 
As most of us don't have this problem (and on a variety of Android and Apple devices) then I'd suggest it's an account problem rather than an app problem. One possibly nuclear option may be to unbind your car from your account, create a new account, login and bind the car to that. 🤷‍♂️

To answer @siteguru I’ve previously unbound the app from the car, deleted it and bound it again, and it made no difference at all. Third world problem in all honesty, as I’ve saved the login details so can use face recognition to reload them each time, which reduces the annoyance somewhat.

But that's using the same account I presume? My suggestion was to create a NEW account with MG/iSmart - but if it's easy to work around the login issue then there may be little to gain from doing so. :)

Ahh…yes it was indeed the same account! One thing I noticed in my phone settings today was the app was set to ‘background app refresh’. I don’t know why it would need that, so have turned it off in case that was doing anything.

I’m also set for location ‘only when using’ rather than all the time, but not sure why that would make any difference, so have left that alone for now.
 
Had a quick peek at my app settings and my location is also set to “when using” so you should be fine with that. I do have background refresh on as well, but not sure why that would matter as the app never automatically refreshes anything anyway
 
Mine is inconsistent, but I seem to get token expired when the car has been sat for over 24hrs without getting in it. Not all the time, but it seems to happen more often than not.

That being said, I've not had the token expired message in at least a couple of weeks now.

Well, not trying to jinx myself but I’ve remained logged in since making the above changes. That’s the longest I’ve remained logged in for as long as I can remember. I’ll report back again if it kicks me out

Edit 16/12 - still logged in :)

Just thought I would update this for anyone having similar issues. I’ve now been logged in continuously for 9 days, which is far and away the longest I’ve remained logged in since taking delivery of the car.

I’m a little amazed that something so simple as ‘background app refresh’ in the phone settings for that app seems to have resolved things, but I’m not complaining!

Good news and thanks for update. Just goes to show that at least some of our complaints are down to us or our phone settings...

True but in this case it’s not really a fix. Only possibly workaround. I had the token expired issue too in the past at various times and I have got the background app refresh enabled and it seems to be ok.
 
Yep, no one else has the details, or access, and the password would be unlikely easy to guess

Just to update - deleted the app completely from my phone, reinstalled it and it had my phone number pre completed in the login screen…makes my think it doesn’t properly uninstall, so I’m not sure that will make any difference!
I'm on Android but I had to uninstall the app then clear the cache then reinstall. Any other order failed.
 
How do you clear the cache of an app that's not installed? It doesn't appear in the Apps list so you can't access any details/options for it. 🤷‍♂️
