Trip away to Norfolk
Following on from my introduction in the Say Hello thread here are my thoughts regarding my trip to Sheringham in North Norfolk.
First of all thank you everybody who gave us suggestions for charging points and/or places to visit
Set off from West Yorkshire on Friday evening and stopped at the Travelodge in Spalding. Charged up at the Instavolt at the McDonalds on Holbeach Road. When we got there about 7:00pm all 4 points were showing as available however 3 out of the 4 were ICE'd. Connected to the available unit and charged to 93% from 41% (Cost £20.45) while we were eating in the McDonalds.
Drove to Sheringham on the Saturday via Hunstanton and Wells-next-the-Sea and did a little touring around over the next few days.
Used a 22 kWh Genie point Charge unit in the Morris Street CP in Sheringham on Wednesday & Thursday to top up. On both days all 6 units were available but 1 was showing as faulted (just looking on the app and 4 are now showing as faulted). Costs of £12.33 & £8.22 which included the £0.50 connection fee on both occasions.
These charges gave us enough juice to potentially get us home but not wanting to chance it decided to top up on the Instavolt at the Costa just outside Kings Lynn, however both units were occupied and in use when we got there so decided to go to Spalding (slight detour) Instavolt. When we arrived there 1 unit was occupied by a Tesla. Hooked up and charged to 91% from 47% (Cost £17.84) while we had a drink.
Got talking to the Tesla driver and it turned out he had got the car new the day before and this was his first use of a public charge unit and was having difficulty getting the unit to work, I showed him what to do and he was happy to get some kWh's added, sufficient to get him home.
After we got home we add completed 490 miles which with the full charge at home of 38.6 kWh (Cost £3.86) came to a total charging cost for 132.17 kWh of £62.00 averaging £0.47 per kWh at 3.71 miles/kWh.
The final dash reading shows 4.2 miles/kWh
