Tutorial for updating maps on ZS EV Gen 2 (avoiding mgmotor.eu)

Traveling around Europe, I would really not feel safe using MG maps... Updated one is from last year, 2023... You can download Google maps on your phone if you don't want to use data abroad

Also, check some cheap wireless Bluetooth dongles for wireless Android Auto, it's not standard on our ZS either.
I 've got such dongle from Ali :) it worth every peny :P
Thank you for your time!

I am still getting the checksum md5 error downloaded it 8 times now and put it on 10 different usb sticks on pc with winrar formatted in ntfs and fat32 still no go I have a 2021 new facelift zs ev trophy connect lr with r17 firmware

Updating MG maps is not quite worth it. The latest version is around September 2023 and when you use MG navigation, it does not give you traffic updates and it does not have all the latest roads. Yes, it will get you from A to B but I don't think I will bother updating MG maps.

Have you ever used Google maps on your phone?

Yes I do. Still like too keep my maps updated as best I can. No point in having the Trophy Connect if you get no updates

No point in having the Trophy Connect edition if they don’t give you any updates

I'm not sure, but I think one of the files has to be in the root directory of the usb which then points the car's computer to the map folder.

So can anyone point me in the right direction on which file(s) need to be in the root of the usb or is it only the maps folder nothing else needed.

from memory (I followed instructions on the website) I unzipped what I download on a blank/clean USB memory stick and plugged that in the car, it takes time to start and takes time to start uploading.

At what exact stage you get into problems?

Which website are you downloading from? I used German, from memory..
If they update it for free that's great, use the opportunity to ask them to check if anything else needs updating ?

Offering my experience into the discussion for what it's worth, or who it might help. I downloaded the maps.zip file as described above, along with all the pdf manuals I could, which took about 45 minutes. I then unzipped (Windows 10) and did a copy to a blank quick format 64GB USB stick (format exFAT) which took about 3 hours. I simply copied the maps\ level folder to the root.

Then out to the car (MG ZS Long Range Trophy 23 Reg) and plugged in USB stick. Wait about 5 minutes for the system to read and identify the USB files - only the top box was selected to update maps. Click OK and sit back for about 45 minutes while it read and transferred the files. Offered reboot and now updated to 22Q2 from 21Q1

A few other things I had tried, but failed with were the wrong versions of the maps, using the USB C socket (this doesn't seem to work with anything) and various failed copies to other USB sticks.
Still keep getting the MD5 error have downloaded it 10 times and put it on five usb stick noon work all same MD5 error

Any one still have the 2022Q1 update as the mega upload file just stops downloading if so can some one please upload to internet archive.org
or can a nice person put the files on a usb stick for me and check it works on their car before posting and i will pay them for the usb stick and their time
every time download and copy to usb i get a MD5 Error

Ok have just downloaded 22Q1 map will see if that will update first then try 23Q4 after

For the ones getting MD5 error try deleting those two files inside maps folder
file_verification
VN.txt

On the last update i applied (22Q1) those files weren't there, so i deleted and it started the update! no more MD5 error!!!!!

Different maps here is instructions
Hi. Found this post, dated Jun 29, 2022. We are now well into mid 2024 - 2 years have passed!

Guess what?!

I just got my MG HS Luxury (Trophy equivalent for the UK - non hybrid, non electric, just simply petrol automatic) two months ago. It is a face-lifted version. However, I found out that the navigation system still uses Naviextras, not as some other users say a different supplier.

In this instruction, it says explicitly:
This update method is applicable only if your navigation software version number is 9.18.39.709263.
Please DO NOT use this update method if your navigation version number is different!

My navigation software version numer is: 9.35.281846.

Following the isntruction, I got passed to the step of preparing the fingerprint mapping of the pendrive, by inserting it to the usb socket.

Now, I don't know what to do. Can anyone help?

Hello everyone,
on my MG ZS EV luxury long charge, the map update is impossible; the system does not recognise my USB keys as multimedia.
Do you have any idea?

Thank you for your help
