My pre FL MG5 is wearing the tyres out very unevenly, the inner tread on both fronts is drastically more worn than the outside tread.
Dealer at second service said that this is common on MG5s on both front and back and that tracking is not the cause, although I intend to get my tracking checked asap.
Has anyone else experienced very uneven tyre wear as it's not something I can find threads on?

My rear tyres have 24k miles on them and no uneven wear. The dealer I bought it from put new tyres on the front, which have now done about 3k miles and no unevenness apparent.

Had the issue with my rear tyres but figured out it was because I was loading down the back of the car too much. I use it for work and had all my kit in the boot. I moved most of the heavy stuff further forwards and the tyre wear evened out.
No problems with the front tyres at all.

You need to do a proper 4 wheel alignment check and see whether camber is within specification.

My rear tyres lasted 35k miles. I had a rear puncture only to discover that both rears had worn smooth insides. Tyre fitter said that rear wheels are fixed and can not be adjusted. The tyres were original from new as Cooper Xeons. On checking these they are not available in Europe but only on the Australian Cooper website. Whether this makes a difference I do not know but I suspect the new tyres will end up the same.

I had uneven wear on the front, got the tracking done by MG at a service check and they corrected it. At last service they noticed uneven rear wear but said there is no way to adjust the tracking at the rear. Rear tyres now on 35k miles and fronts replaced twice in that time so they can't be that far out at the rear.

Had the tracking checked this morning. All well in spec, see attached print out. Not sure why the system with my reg came up with "except Long Range" and whether this could be the issue. Did MG change the tracking etc for LR versions? The weight difference SR to LR is very small so doesn't seem likely that tracking would be different.
One way ahead would be to experiment with tweaking, but this might have unforeseen consequences on handling etc and it would take a long time to see if the result was beneficial or not.
So when I change the fronts, which will be fairly soon, I will then do tyre rotation every 7 or 8 K miles and see how that works. A complete bore and something I have never had to do in 55 years of car ownership.
Any other thoughts out there? How do Cleevely manage 40-50K on a set? Is it purely down to regular rotation?

No idea how Cleevely get so many miles out of them!? I asked them when I popped my car in for a surface and they said I should try driving more carefully…which is fair enough. I now have a Black Box fitted with my insurance so have to calm down at the traffic lights, I’ll see how the tyres hold up.

The alignment spec is different for SR and LR:

We've just had to have both fronts replaced at 22k due to uneven wear but I don't think it's anything to worry about. Wheel alignment being out is just a fact of life given the state of roads these days.

Unfortunately we've got to wait another month before the dealer can do the wheel alignment as ATS said they won't touch it on these cars because it can cause problems with the driver assistance software.

I get the impression from their videos they are rotating them and replacing them in sets. Will always seem like you get more miles then but in effect you're just replacing 4 less frequently than someone else is replacing 2. I have never bothered rotating ours because it's too much hassle getting the car to the dealer to reprogram the tpms system as the dealer is 30 miles away and getting an appointment at a convenient time can be as challenging as winning the lottery without a ticket.

Thanks for the specs for alignment. In Normandy this week (fortuitously) and will look at my printout from Kwikfit on return.

My mg5 had outer tyre wear on both fronts. Replaced them with kumho esta around 4k ago and been absolutely fine. Also had the tracking done was told it was a bit out but nothing major so adjusted for free.
