Unwanted modifications
Following on from Storm Eowyn my poor MG5 has taken a turn for the worse. I'm hoping it will be driveable but am a bit concerned about getting it out

No - we are visiting friends in Scotland for Burns night. His car was next to mine and escaped without a scratch

You could possibly lift the trunk of the tree using a hydraulic jack just enough to extricate the car.

Stating the obvious but the branches will need to be Chain sawed off. (Carefully)
I'm sure a Tree felling company, could sort that, and they'd chip the branches out of the way. Job done.

More damage than I thought. Tailgate pushed out, roof dented . Driveable back to Yorkshire but it's certainly an Insurance job

Going out on a limb here but call house insurance company for advice or failing that, your car insurance. Don’t risk any more damage. PS. I’ve had something similar where a fallen branch at the roadside was clipped by a passing car flipped over and scored the side of my car.

Yes - they're quoting over £9 grand for a repair and I'm expecting the insurers to come back with some derisory offer Monday

What year is it? Plenty of these for sale so an exact match shouldn't be hard to prove your case for a correct offer

26k miles 71 plate. Ex demo when new to us and still the "new" car

We have same colour 72 plate LR I have seen yours for sale at up to 14k with those miles

Well the insurers said it was repairable and I was told to hang on to the courtesy car until the repair was done. So I filled up with petrol only to receive a call saying they'd now deemed it a write off and my courtesy car would need to be handed back in 24 hours. Cue urgent car search and am now proud owner of an ex-lease Hyundai Kona.
Still no figures for salvage coat or write off value though
