Hi sorry to hijack this old thread but I'm interested in this camera! It comes with a cigarette lighter power source not usb! Does it work OK straight from USB? Many thanksI paid £9 for mine 3 years ago got it from eBay, never had a problem. I will try to put a link to it also got 2 more as CCTV for home use.????Dash Cam Mini Car DVR 2.4" HD Front Or Rear Camera Video Recorder Night Vision | eBay
Only ZS EV face lift models I believe. This on new models or all ZSEV's
I used this connection for my NB 622, but the power is only 'On' when the ev is powered up. So the dashcam kept running out of battery overnightWorks fine on my Nexbase 522. As to what camera, go for one that has internal battery backup. Any movement of the car will switch it on. When i removed the dash cam equipment from my previous Mk7 Golf and fitted to the ZS EV the USB socket was so much easier than connecting to Fuse box... On the point about battery back up, i inserted the SD card into my PC to check out the quality of playback and was shocked and surprised to find that i was watching my previous car being serviced. It had its annual service a couple of days before i removed the Dashcam from the vehicle. In short, it pays to check the SD card regularly as you never know what's on it.
It depends on the dashcam. The socket is only 'Live' when the ev is 'turned on'.For some reason the dashcam companies have been telling people it won't work but all the users are saying it works fine.
It's a shame the top usb was not like the rear usb and on a separate fuse (f18) as you could just remove fuse and run a fused fly lead from permanent live the usb would stay onI used this connection for my NB 622, but the power is only 'On' when the ev is powered up. My NxBs 622 uses up its battery overnight and so Ive connected it direct to an empty output on the Passenger Compartment Fuseboard.

Mine only powers the front camera. As soon as I plug in the rear camera I lose power to the whole unit. Yours definitely powers up the front and rear camera just from the rear view mirror usb port?Works fine with mine and powers the rear camera too.
Yup I've had no problems at all.Mine only powers the front camera. As soon as I plug in the rear camera I lose power to the whole unit. Yours definitely powers up the front and rear camera just from the rear view mirror usb port?
Mine does the same. Only the front camera works when using the rear view mirror usb. I get a blank screen from the rear camera. Fed the cable around the car to the centre console usb and both cameras work fine. Mine isn't a branded camera system which maybe the issue.Mine only powers the front camera.
