And I hope they see how unhappy people are. I was told by my Vanarama sales person that the chargers would only be installed after delivery of the car to avoid a situation like this. Then early 2022 I get hustled by ChargedEV to install my charger before the end of the grant. I will spread the message far and wide to all I know that Vanarama should be avoided at all costs. I have already got 2 of my mates to go with alternatives to Vanarama.Just to let you know, vanarama are monitoring this chat as Iv had a private message on this from them.
My feelings exactly. I contacted a local MG dealer. They had a cancelled order MG5 Exclusive in the showroom. Bought that, cancelled Vanarama and paid the £350 for the charger. As you say, life's too short!I agree with the anger. It isn't an acceptable situation to be in, but life's too short for all this talk of ombudsmen, lawyers et al.
Either wait for the car or pay £350 for a charger which would cost more if you bought it privately.
I can't say I'm happy with cancelling as I would have greatly preferred a new MG to the 2nd Hand Leaf I've now gone with, but Vanarama haven't made a penny out of me, I've got a charger for £350 and I'll have an electric car on Saturday to go with it.
I would have waited. But another 8+ months of receiving a monthly text from Vanarama saying they're working on my order, reading the Shipping Forums thread or this thread and seeing more and more MG ZS EVs on the roads around Yorkshire would have sent me doolally.
As a side note. I've seen a grand total of 2 MG ZS EVs in 'the wild' since I ordered 9 months ago. I went to test drive my Leaf on Saturday and I'll give you no prizes for guessing what I saw on that test drive! It's like it was taunting me ?
Yeah get this every few weeks! The only consistent communication I receive from Vanarama are requests for me to complete my Gap insurance form, Do you keep receiving these?
If Vanarama spent more time looking after its customers interests rather than lining it's own pockets we may get some where.
Andy Could you please reach out to us as we returned our car last month on the basis we were told to expect the car in September. I explained that based on the September delivery I would return my leased bmw and that I would use my son's until September when he would go to university. So I had made it clear that on the basis of your advice I would be left without a car in August and at most I could cope with would be a month's delay.Following my post explaining the situation in regard to the ongoing delays to MG vehicles, caused by the ongoing global supply chain issues , I’d like to give you an update.
Firstly my sincerest apologies again to all of our customers affected by these problems and for any inconvenience caused because of their vehicle being delayed .
Given the unpredictable nature of vehicle delivery times, we understand some customers will not be able to wait and want to cancel their MG order with us .
However, some of you who do want /need to cancel will have already had the home charger installed at your property. Our terms and conditions state that any customer who cancels their EV order will be liable for the cost of a home charger. The RRP for a standard install is £1050.00.
However, we don’t believe passing the full cost on to you is the right thing to do, given the circumstances.
Therefore, we have decided to only charge £350 in recognition of the inconvenienced caused (a third of the retail price) - we believe this is a fair comprise for anyone looking to cancel their order with us, and hopefully demonstrates our willingness to be fair and reasonable.
In terms of the delays and expected delivery times. I have had confirmed from our main contact at MG that is their intention to supply the vehicles at the price ordered, and that they hope to deliver the vehicles by sometime in Q4/ early Q1 2023. He was at pains to point out that this is their plan at the minute, and timescales do not take into account any other supply chain issues. Not ideal I know, but it would be foolish for him, or us, to say anything else.
The grant issue will be negated IF the vehicles are registered and delivered within 12 months of being ordered, but we are not in control of that.
We are still awaiting a decision on wether or not OZEV will change their stance and support vehicles if the delivery times goes beyond that.
For now all we can do is provide clarity on the charger situation. I hope that is helpful
If you would like to discuss this matter further, please get in touch.

Sadly I now find that I will be without a vehicle, a situation which could have been avoided if Vanarama had kept me informed, BMW were letting me extend month to month so this was unnecessary. I now am without a vehicle despite making an order in December last year.
I have been in contact with your team, who said they would look at a "loan" car or alternative, but today sent a standard email that did not address any my lack of vehicle. Can someone speak to me urgently?

We have worked extremely hard with your finance company to ensure the price you get will be the best price possible,
I posted this in another thread, but repost here as its relevant....
Had this email yesterday.....
We have tried to call you to discuss your MGZS order.
Unfortunately, MG have not been able to allocate your vehicle a build slot yet. MG have now informed us that the most realistic estimate for delivery of these vehicles is the beginning of next year.
The reasons given by MG are due to a combination of global issues within the industry, including semi-conductor shortages and global disruption to supply chains.
This is an estimated delivery timeline at this point, we are in regular contact with MG, and as soon as we have any further updates, we will advise you. Obviously if they arrive any earlier, we will contact you straight away to organise delivery of your vehicle ASAP.
Your vehicle was eligible for the electric grant at the point of order, unfortunately the government removed the electrical vehicle grant in June, the rules applied by the government in doing this stipulate the vehicle must be delivered within 12 months from the time of application for the grant to be eligible.
Due to the delay, it is highly likely the car we have ordered will not qualify for the government grant by the time it arrives. Unfortunately, this will mean an increase in the monthly rentals. We have worked extremely hard with your finance company to ensure the price you get will be the best price possible, but it will reflect the removal of the government grant.
If you are willing to keep the order with us the monthly rental will be £276.70 with 9 rentals in advance
If the government offers an extension on the grant, then of course we will revert to the original price of £219.88
I have looked for alternatives, and even with the loss of the government grant all options are significantly more expensive.
If you are happy to proceed with the new price, please let me know as I will arrange with the funder.
I understand this isn't the news you wanted to hear, but please can you let me know how you want to proceed ASAP to avoid any further delays.
Thanks & regards,
So, similar to others. I replied with "....I'll stick with it and keep waiting". I might be lucky! Got no other options really. Even at the new price, it's still cheaper than alternatives. However, it does look like the finance company backing the deal has taken the opportunity to increase their margin somewhat!
I'm not sure what they will say about the "free charger" they have already installed if I do not accept the new terms.
What’s was your initial downpayment if you don’t mind me asking. I’m the same deal but only done 1 month upfront .36 months. 10k miles pa.
