I have my thumb drive plugged in on the right, my phone on the left, but it will NOT play music if I'm using Google maps, I get this, how do I get rid of it?

I want to understand why it is doing it in the first place as I do not have any news apps on my phone, enough crap on there as it is, I cannot see any news apps on the car at all so far, so where is it coming from and how do I turn it off, I can have the radio on any time I like but I can only access my thumb drive music when it allows me to, it is incredibly frustrating to not have what I want when I want it, you do not want that on the road.

I have an Apple CarPlay dongle on the left (so on the right for you). it connects automatically at startup. so I press the home button on the center console and go to the usual home page. and at the top of the radio part I scroll through the small arrows to access either the radio or other sources which can be connected to the USB output.

or otherwise you have a shortcut which can be programmed on the Stars of the steering wheel and which is called "SRC" (for us in France which allows you to switch to different sources (radio, USB etc...).

The right USB output (left for you) is only used for charging the phone and not for reading anything.

I hope this will help you.

that's what I said in my last sentence, only the right USB output is used to read

Isn’t where you have your thumb drive plugged in the usb for charging only?
This s what the manual says, but another member posted that it will play music and it does, that isn't the issue.

The issue is as in the OP, if I have the phone plugged in it will still play from the USBC socket via the thumb drive, but if I want to use Google Maps on the phone it puts up what you see in my OP, sometimes it will play my music and sometimes it won't...

your connection is made in a way where the USB key should be read and have your music. when I plug my phone into the right USB, I only have charging and no reading of anything. have you tried plugging in the key, playing your music, and secondly plugging in your phone?

The car can only read the phone via the left standard USB with Android Auto, the USBC should be power only but it does play the music on the thumb drive once it sees it.

Yes I have tried that as we have made a few stops today and the phone has been removed.

But I don't understand why it is showing a list of radio stations and news sites I know nothing about, not on the phone or in the car.

I thought the connections were reversed in England, a priori they are like us, but the USBC output in France is near the driver. sorry I saw it wrong in the photos.

As for radio stations and sites, not knowing Android Auto, I suppose that they are part of this application and that they would have to be configured?

I meant USB A, near the driver.

I'm definitely going to have to change my glasses, I apologize for these misunderstandings.

It’s quite the opposite with us. at least they reversed the cockpit because we have the parking brake on the driver's side.

As for the USBC plug being able to read a USB key, for me it doesn't work. or my key does not meet the required standard for the vehicle.

These are only listening suggestions made by Android Auto or Carplay

Put your music into your phone and then select if through Android Auto so when you changed to Google maps it will continue to play. Plugging a usb into the charging socket (although ug will play) confuses the cats set up

Another plus in using Auto play is that you can use playlists

Yes, agree that the listening suggestions can be annoying, as is having it pop up next to your navidation screen. You can get rid of it if you go to the main Android Auto menu screen. I find that I just stay away from Android Auto and don't even plug my phone in, if I am just doing my normal driving on my area, and do not need Googke Maps. My phone still works through the car system through its Bluetooth connection, so I can operate hands free.

I agree P, and have done that but it only seems to work for a while, I have tried I think now all the apps on Google play, the thumb drive works really well so long as you don't use Google Maps, the onboard sat nav is crap to be honest and you have to type in each and every address, if only the stupid mic worked with the car, I had a Honda Accord 20 years old that did that.

Like you I tried loads of apps to get UV to work properly and found that the combination of Musicolet app on my phone for music and Magic Earth app for sat/nav worked best with Android Auto
