I've been playing with some videos to see if I can find a nice format as I found many videos quite jerky in the past so never persisted. I found even re-encoded to 720p they were still jerky but then I left it a bit longer and the issue resolved. So I went back to the originals, some 1080p, and they all became smooth after 10-15 seconds. It also becomes jerky after pausing or seeking but also resolves shortly after.

Do other people see this same effect? I'm using quite an old usb stick in the USB A socket, not sure if that makes a difference.

Maybe it's the hardware/resources in the car struggling to cope. Perhaps the memory buffer available isn't sufficient. ?‍♂️

I've always used the USB C port for playing videos, and it's been fine. However, maybe reboot the infotainment by holding down the home button and see if it improves? I had weird sound playing MP3s the other day, the sound would fade in/out and sounded like being played underwater. Rebooted infotainment, and all fine again.

I have tried a 256gb usb with films on in mp4 format in my new MG3 Hybrid using the left hand data socket. It works ok but the video is quite small, even after pressing full screen. All my videos are 720, do I need to change them to 1080?
