Has anyone figured out how the VIN number is formatted to give the date of manufacture etc?
This didn't work for mine, not a couple of others.

There was a thread about 4 or 5 months ago trying to decipher the VIN. I don't think a date of manufacture could be determined from what I remember.Has anyone figured out how the VIN number is formatted to give the date of manufacture etc?

Agreed. There were various theories put forward but none of them could be substantiated and all of them could be disproved by somebody‘s vehicle. There was a thread about 4 or 5 months ago trying to decipher the VIN. I don't think a date of manufacture could be determined from what I remember.
I'm not sure about MG UK's VIN number format, but by comparing it to other manufacturers, the 9th character could be the month, and the 10th sates the year of production (some letters like I are skipped to avoid confusion with digits).
It seems that your MG's VIN is similar format to Chevrolet.
So FL = June, 2020
Make sense?
