Voice activation

Has anyone tried voice control button.
Tried various times to call and it calls random names from my phone book
Also incoming calls show number but no contact name. Names show up in call history.

Same with mine ... a bug in the software apparently (who'd have guessed)!!

........or perhaps too many contacts in your phone some people say.

Apart from phoning the wrong contact number, my voice control works OK.

Have you tried it for other things ? From some kind soul on this forum (see attached) !

I seem to remember that I had to alter the way the names were stored in my Galaxy. So for example if the name was in the phone as SMITH ,john , the car would wouldn't understand me saying call John SMITH but would understand call SMITH, John. I changed the way the names were stored and it's worked fine ever since .
Might be worth trying .
I also use it for spotify etc

Didn’t work for me unfortunately as my contacts were just listed as one name and the number it called was nothing like the same name.

Ah I see , I also meant to ask if you were calling through bluetooth or Carplay/AA?

That was just through the bluetooth connection and using the cars voice recognition system.

I would say something like "Hey MG, Call Home" and it would the go ahead but dial some other contact number !! ...... it could have been embarassing

Does it do the same if you use AA or carplay? I'm sorry I have an SE so don't have Hey MG . I Just push the button and it beeps when it's ready to take instruction.

With AA or AC you directly call with your phone. You do not use the imported phone book.

Getting muddled with Google. Tried Hello MG. I was expecting some sort of recognition before starting a command; will try it again.

My wife once said O.M.G. (letters) and that triggered a response. I think the response was "I'm here".

Any help from the MG5 forum?

Can’t seem to get this feature to work. No response from the car when saying “Hey MG” or “Hello MG”. Do I need to do anything to activate it?

It needs to be turned on in settings, although I'm sure the default was on when I collected the car. I think it's in settings under voice or something like that

@ReintjeWA is correct. Swipe left and select Settings. Go down to voice, there is an on/off switch for "Hello MG". Also make sure the voice level is turned up.

Thanks for the suggestions , still can’t get it to work. Not that bothered but would still like to use it.
