Voice recognition problem

Hello,
Has anyone with a new Mk 2 MG4 which has voice recognition built in (NOT by using Android Auto/wired to your phone) had problems with it working spasmodically (when it feels like it)?
Is anyone having the same sort of issues? Has a solution?
At the handover the salesman told us it was a software issue that would be corrected soon, does anyone have any information about this, or as to when it will be fixed?

There are all kinds off software glitches involving voice recognition, phone pairing, android auto etc
This is over several software versions.
I think people were hoping the phase 2 cars might cure it, have you checked the software version of your infotainment system? You can find it by going into the menus

I disabled my 'Hello MG' toggle in the menu, it was so hit and miss as you say. I now just use the button on the steering wheel to wake it..... but it is so limited and inaccurate I never use it anyway.
However if you long hold that steering wheel button, it will bring up Google assistant if you have AA connected.

My experience with this when trying to make a phone cal using my voice is: "Hello MG - Call Wendy" "Calling Phil B" "Hello MG - Call House" "Calling Starling Customer services" Tried many times, with many tones of voice, fast, slow etc and the result is always the same. My info system is on...

Do you mean Entertainment System Version, which is showing in the system menu?
Ver: SW168 - 29958 - 1300R40
How do I know if this is the up-to-date version?

It is, R40 is new, it was what the phase 2 cars were said to be coming with, I think the forum was hoping it would cure a lot of the glitches

It may be anothe module needing an update as R40 just relates to infotainment

I would be asking the salesman to check your car is up to date in relation to all module updates, it should be as you have just got it, but there have been a lot of examples of cars handed over without being fully updated.
To be fair that was all phase 1 cars, there hasn't been a lot of feedback in relation to phase 2

Mine responds to "Hey MG"
Interestingly I found that on those occasions when the radio starts up silently and touching the volume up, volume down or unmute doesn't work, "Hey MG" then "I want to listen to the radio" brings it on.
