Now been waiting 7 weeks for a replacement windscreen as my new Trophy ER was delivered with several small chips. Probably not going to be an issue, but the constant promises from the dealer of 'it will be here in a couple of days' are insulting and irritating as he clearly has no clue about delivery times (or can't be bothered to really track it down). You would think dealerships would have even a small stock of regularly required parts - but that's probably too close to customer care for them.
I’ve said the same a few times on this forum, I’m amazed especially with how many MGs you see on the roads now that dealers here in the U.K don’t have stock of parts.
I do wonder if this is an issue mainly with the MG4 or is it the same with other MG models, EV, hybrid? On another forum I use there is a guy that’s now been waiting nearly 8 weeks for a rear door for the MG4 after an accident.
Not so long back I had a wait for the front LED indicator bulb & a passenger door unit/mirror.
Then just 3 weeks back my MG4 decided it wouldn’t charge on public fast chargers anymore & where at the moment I can’t charge at home, this was a big issue + they couldn’t tell me exactly how long the wait yet again for another part would take.
Now with a bit of regret I’ve handed the car back after a few slightly heated discussions with MG but I just lost confidence. Sure I know after many years of driving things go wrong with any make/model but MG really need to sort their after care out, these long waits or being given no real times frames is fairly common.
I’ll add though, I don’t believe my issues with the car are widespread, if they were there would be a lot more posts on this forum alone about them but as I’m sure most here know, once you lost confidence in something it’s hard to get back.
So now I’ve got a hire car whilst I wait for my next car to be delivered, should be by mid July & I’ve gone back to petrol/hybrid. I won’t rule out another EV in the future but right now I will say it will not be with MG which is a shame as I really did enjoy driving the car, its looks etc but hey ho, as they say, it’s the joys of motoring.
