Like most things, the government are best targeting the low population/difficult/expensive to reach areas first.

Private companies will be quite happy to install infrastructure on profitable, easy to reach areas. They certainly don't need an incentive to install EV chargers on the main trunk routes around the country.

Look at broadband, private telcos are happy to shove fibre into high density towns/cities without any incentives. The outlying villages between those towns, nah you can stick with some tin cans and strings, it works fine.

That's exactly the case in the USA.

I live in an out of town area, just ordered 200Mb FTTP for £17 PCM for 18 months.

Contract for BT FTTC runs out in June and they want to increase the 68Mb charge from £26 to nearly £30:eek:. Take the fibre contract and in 18 months I can go back to BT with the new customer deals.
