I didn't know the key fob did this. I only found out when I pulled my keys outa my jean's pocket to find I no longer own a fob. It's come adrift sometime today, out and about somewhere.
(The wife's fob pictured)
Dealer tomorrow then .... 😢

Yes, I understand that, but it has opened of it's own volition and the fob has dropped off my keyring without me noticing. Other keyfobs I've had the split ring is attached to an immovable part of the fob, the emergency key access via another mechanism ....

I use a silicone rubber cover over my key fob. It stops it opening and loosing the physical key as well as stopping it getting scratched.
I use a pouchey thing.
It stays zipped in the pouch and the pouch stays in my pocket. I use the door button to get in and out and if Mrs S forgets her key, me being in the passenger seat is enough for the car to recognise the key.

But if I need the buttons, they are there. Plus, the key is protected from knocks and scrapes.

Nah, fair cop....both our parents were teachers of English and my Dad taught English as a foreign language in multiple countries overseas, so I should know better!

As far as I'm concerned, anything the average person can understand is a word.
Word's come and go, language changes with the times, getting too pedantic about stuff is not productive.

Where precise meaning is needed it's a different matter.
Ambiguity, can be a recipe for disaster.
