What happens below battery 5%?

To all intents and purposes you can consider 'equalisation' and 'balancing' to be the same thing.

It is the state that the charging cycle goes into once the target percentage has been reached. The SE SR can only do this at 100% whereas cars with the NMC batteries can (usually) set a level.

Unfortunately my copy of the Manual only uses the word 'equalisation' but when the car enters that state the words 'battery balancing' appear on the infotainment display. See below from @GrayCat:

The SE LR has an NMC battery the same as the Trophy and X-Power.

The low battery level to 100% in one charge is applicable to both battery types because it informs the Battery Management System so that more accurate battery statuses can be given.
Does it really have to be in one charge? Or can you go 10-80% and later on do say 20-100%? Would that not be sufficient to show it what high and low charge starts look like? I know this approach isn't described in the manual but I suspect it may be okay.

The BMS calibration charge supposedly needs to be from a low SoC to 100% in one go. The suggested process is:

1. Get the car down to a low SoC (<10%)
2. Leave the car (locked) for an hour to let the battery pack settle
3. Plug in to an AC charge point and start charging
4. Let the charge complete in one go, so that it charges to 100% and balances
5. Unplug when complete

Oh really? 6 months of ownership and I thought you could only equalise at 100%, handy to know you can do it at less

Not much (albeit on an SE) - Its very stable and linear all the way down to zero (in the last 2% it doesn't allow power above a certain threshold) - I had an extra journey today that I needed to do, the car was still fine down to its last few miles - I've found that when its display is at 0% (on the driveway), you can't select drive.

also ideal that I can just plug in, and in the moring it will be fully charged again, all at 7p/Kwh (and the rest of the electricity needed in the house when charging) -with an ohme pro & Octopus intelligent at desired default settings (i.e. just plug in once home)

Just doing that now (y) (I have no control on the Ohme/Octopus charge rates, just happy that its 7p) - I'll check out the new SoH (via car scanner) later today.
