What is your opinion on your MG4 for build quality - Good or Bad

Hi Everyone.

I need to know if i've got a lemon of an MG4.
I collected it in early November, so it was part of the first batch and im having quite a few quality issues and would like to know if others are having the same.

1) Unlock buttons on the door handles worked for a few weeks and now they dont work.
2) Poor range and efficiency, i've never had more than 150 miles of real world driving or had more than 3 miles per kwh, and thats driving it gently
3) knocking noise coming from the rear left corner
4) Vibrations through the front wheels and a sort of suspension buffeting noise from the front at low speeds
5) Scratches on alloy wheels from either shipping or the wheel covers
6) Drivers seat creaking after 2000 miles and sounding like an old wire frame sofa bed
7) Randomly loses some power and refusal to accelerate from 30% battery or less
8) When the battery is charged to 100% it loses 10% in first 10 miles??? WTF????
9) Dashboard creaking around the 10 inch screen
10) After releasing the parking brake, occasionally the rear brakes feel like they lock on and make a clunking noise when they finally release

Needless to say i have a lot of warranty issues than need sorting!

You need to get that, you seem to have a collection of quite widely reported issues. You just seem to be a bit unlucky that you have a fair few of them.
Bowfer and Mars had similar issues re power/power loss.
The range isn't great but would not appear to be that out of the ordinary for cold weather.

Door handles get them replaced.
Tyres alignment or flat spots.
Seats are a bit cheap to be fair.
Dashboard creaking has been reported and fixed as per a thread.

As I've said you seem to be right unlucky to get more than a few, I wouldn't be impressed if I was you, what is your dealer saying.

@Michael1982 if I had that many problems with my car it would be back at the dealers as fast as it's random power output would allow!!
Seeing as how there are so many problem cars being highlighted on here (typical for a forum, I know), I'd love to know the statistics regarding build quality, reliability and customer satisfaction across all delivered vehicles, so far.
For the record, I consider my own Trophy to be of excellent build quality, reliable and I can honestly say I'm completely satisfied that the car lives up to its promise and I have had a good dealer.
Having said that, I'm going to go out tomorrow morning to find a broken door button, oil puddle underneath and zero charge in the battery, aren't I?

Mine is the SR and I'm sure the range will increase when the weather gets warmer but a work colleague has an ID4 and that has always had good range even in winter.
I drove an ID4 to Birmingham a few months ago and it was happily sitting at about 4.8 m/kwh at 70 mph.

The range I can accept as I don't do long journeys often, but the the little faults that seem to be increasing is worrying

The comment about the rear brakes locking on may be due to the sliders having insufficient grease. Someone else mentioned that they had inspected the sliders on their car (can't recall who) and regreased them.

This prompted me to look at mine and found a lack of grease also.

Maybe this is the cause of your sticking brakes!

My SE SR is also great. No build issues, no leaking oil. Very slight bulge in the under tray, but not significant, probably wouldn't notice it unless I was looking for it.
I got an average m/kWh of 4.3 on a 23 mile journey today, mainly dual carriageway, but with a little 40mph roadworks and about 3 miles of town driving. I'm happy with that return. I don't get anywhere near 4.8m/kWh on the screen when travelling at 70mph, more like 3.2 - 3.5. Currently my car has 73% battery and is suggesting 156miles of range, which I reckon is about right.

No problems with mine. Range was disappointing until I realised the intelligent battery heating feature was the issue. Turned that off. Been good since. Not seen any of those others issue but I'm only 1000km in. Getting about 3.7miles/kwh but don't do much motorway driving.

No problems with my November supplied SE SR average of 3.3kWh/mile over 5.5k miles and just showing 191 mile range at 100%. Tend to set ACC at 63mph on motorway and hopefully will get better when it warms up.

This used to be a common thing when electric handbrakes came in (you know the button or auto release ons) they'd run dry or not have any put on to start with and they'd stick until suddenly CLUNK they opened. Used to have a couple ladies come see us to fix it after they had a service somewhere else because "Our Prices were too much" ??? (I always had to avoid answering that doing the job right first time costs extra haha)

Very happy with the build quality of my end December Trophy. 1000 miles done and no oil leaks or rattles. Software is not so good but hoping updates will improve things.

There are in my experience different audiences on car forums.

With my modern classics mx5 and Boxster those forum users are there to discuss fixes and mods to their cars because they are older vehicles with mechanically minded owners who like to get involved with their cars. There are no complaints as why would you on a 10+ year old car.

This forum has people that bought a car less than 6 months old and may have had an issue or two with it. Its pretty noticeable that only a very few active members are behind most of the reported problems.

And with a new vehicle, if you are having problems you find a forum to complain or seek advice from. There are likely 19 ecstatic owners for everyone with an issue on here.

(And I suspect none of the 19 got on their hands and knees to look at an undertray)

Very happy with my SE SR. Slight bulge in undertray and the dealer recently identified and 'fixed' an oil leak.
Otherwise, it's all been good. Range hasn't been amazing - 3.3mls/kWh over 3300 miles I think. Really suffers under 0° and isn't great under 10°. Looking forward to the summer!

I seem to have a persistent oil leak problem, even with the modified breather fitted, which I hope will be sorted soon, but that said, I still think it's an excellent car! I find it to be a very well built car, comfortable, really nice to drive, and for the most part I think the software is great and easy to use. I'd definitely recommend it to others.

I don't know whether you listened to tonight's podcast, but it has been suggested that a persistent oil leak after the modification has been traced to the new breather not being fitted properly.
Apparently the hose clip that is used has been improperly installed, both by some dealers and at the factory on some new cars supplied with the mod already fitted.

That is very good. What setting were you using?

I always use Eco, regen 3 and there is an extra eco slider. Turn off LDA and tend to set TJA to 60mph on dual carriageway.
