Which is best to use the built in MG Navigation or Android Auto

I made sure all permissions were set ok

The apps were definitely set up correctly as they all worked fine on my Android phone, it's just that egg you connect to Android Auto they will not show onscreen, only favourites show up. No time today but I'll take a screen shot tomorrow so you can see what I'm seeing

Ok, I have checked this out this morning, this is what I get, whether I just open it or voice search it just gives this screen, as you can see there is no link to Contacts. So now I have all the ones I need to use on a regular basis in Favourites.

Google Maps doesn't import your phone contacts - if you want saved locations then use Favourites as you have done. :)

I told you I was looking into the inbuilt Navigation and I got a reply from MG support on how to do this. Bascially with a new MG 3 you get 7 years free updates to Europe. To do this is a little bit jumping through hoops, the dealer would charge you for this I'm sure. Anyway if you are interested I have attached a zipped up folder that includes a Video which is helpful but not detailed enough, and a more detailed a word document on how to do this.

Feedback on errors and ommissions are welcome

Finally settled on using the inbuilt Nav. I have input all my contacts using W3W to speed up up a bit. It was tedious but it works fine. The only thing I can't get to work is getting it to respond to voice commands, it appears you have to use Android Auto fir voice recognition to work, but then if diverts all your phone calls through Android Auto and so you lose the steering wheel phoned answering function, which is far more important. So unless someone knows a work round for this I will just have to live with it

Anyone noticed the new orange triangle on Android Auto? You can now report road congestion, accidents, etc.

Sorry I thought you meant the triangle on the driver's dash. No I haven't seen it on Android auto.

OK

Not only Waze, but also Amigo, NUNAV and MAGIC EARTH have been incorporating road conditions (roadworks, speed cameras, traffic jams, blocked roads, accidents, etc.) into their applications for a long time now, with the option of reporting them using a button that can be accessed directly.

TOMTOM offers an exclusive sidebar symbolising your journey with all the road conditions in front of you. Extremely practical!

Just changed my views on using the MG3 built in sat nav, the maps are way out of date. Just been to manchester and Liverpool city centres on a trip and it got lost several times, in the end I used Sygic and Magic Earth on my phone to get out of trouble. My preference now is to use Magic Earth through Android Auto and keeping my mobile data on as it gets updates and traffic info - it warned me and rerouted when it detected a hold up on a major road, very useful as I could have been there for hours looking at the rescue services zooming past to what was likley to be a major accident. I suppose nothing is ideal but this is the best I can up with without paying a fortune for something which I don't believe would be any better than the free magic Earth.

Personally, I always use Android Auto and Google Maps. As it resides in my phone and has all my history destinations already in it, and i location share with my adult children. I went over to a wireless Android auto link (Ottocast), so I do not have use a cable in the MG3.

Trouble us you need to have mobile data on with Google maps, plus as I have said already I don't trust Google with my data. I tried wireless Android auto but found that I still needed to use a cable to charge my phone on long routes so I stopped using it.

I've tried a few leads now with my phone and the latest one works. Then it doesn't. Then it does, then it doesn't....

So I have a link from my lad and I'll try that one.... Fast running out of choices!
