Will upgrade all speakers and add a sub

The factory EQ is very bright to compensate for the shitty stock speakers. So when you add any aftermarket ones they will sound trebly and thin. There's only so much you can do with the 5 band EQ to flatten it out, so I went with the Match M5DSP which gives me 30 bands to tweak. I had it professionally tuned and the technician was genuinely shocked by the sound he could get from the Vibes I installed.

Yeah, I have noticed that in the factory EQ and is part of why I am using a DSP in my upgrade.

For those who would like to know what I'll be using;
Audison AFM8.14bit DSP Amplifier
Audison SR1.500 Mono Amplifier
Audison APK 165P Component Speakers
Alpine RS-W10D4 Shallow Subwoofer

And if anyone knows what pins on the Infotainment Control Unit are 12V continuous & 12V switched, that would help my install?

Check out the Match harness for MG4. You might be able to make it work with the Audison amp?

I have looked into that already but unfortunately since I'm in Australia it is not a viable option due to the shipping cost from Europe. No-one sells it over here or really any of that brand.

I was more asking so I could skip the tedious time testing each pin. (Just trying to be lazy)
Thanks Anyway.

I am just about to embark on this journey

Is the vauxell/ holden zafira speaker pods still the best option for mounting the speakers

I have the mg4 excite 51 in aus

Hey guys ive read this entire post...

I created a new one just to give a clear list of needed stuff. This thread is very complex and not for everyone (especially SE with no rear speakers)

So for me... I have autism and my sense for audio quality is delicate. So i enjoy quality over power.

What makes you decide alpine over pioneer over rockford Fosgate or infinity speakers...

I dont plan to add a subwoofer as i dont want to deal with adding a new cable to the battery and play with the glove box.

Im only looking to upgrade the woofers in the front doors and tweeters in the dash.

So what is it that i would need?

List:

• 6.5" round speakers
• 34mm spacer with 3 holes
• tweeters
• sound dampening stuff

Questions:

• speakers... If i want good bass from speakers without distorting sound and sacrificing mids... 3-way or 2-way?
• How much RMS is good enough for the OEM head unit?
• the size of the tweeters is one-size fits here?
• tweeters need additional crossover or works as it is?
• tweeters stay fixed or they will hang somewhere on there?
• what connectors are needed? I dont want to cut wires - i prefer to keep original connectors.
• how do you pick one brand over the other? I have these in mind: NVX VSP65, Alpine S2 S65C, Rockford P165-SI

Aaaand... Sound dampening. How to pick them? How much for the 2 front doors?

Replies with links would be awesome

Some of these already come with the tweeters.

Any help is appreciated!

The door panel really gave me a challenge, but this thread might save others from the trial-and-error work.

The first screw was easy but to figure out that I had to pry off the handle and find additional two screws there took a while. Also pulling off the panel itself took a lot of force. Possibly because I didn't manipulate the clips correctly with the prying tool.

It is easy to disconnect the door cable but I ended up hanging the panel on the door to avoid disconnecting the electric cable. If you wanna disconnect the electric cable it might be easiest to take off the panel where the window switches are.

I took out one of the speakers and you can see it compared to the Pioneer here.

At this point, I figured out that I needed to buy some adapters as I don't wanna destroy the original speaker. I'm going for these: Autoleads SAK-3103 Speaker Adaptor

These adaptors are not available anymore..

Any other adapter that fits mg4 original speakers conector?

I spoke with the top-rated car stereo installer in my area about adding a subwoofer to my MG, but he refused, citing concerns about aftermarket mods causing errors.

Has he not heard of the LC2i or something? ?

Love to hear thoughts from experienced audio dudes ?

Hello,

I apologise in advance for my school English.

I will be receiving my mg4 xpower shortly.

Having had a DENON installation in my Peugeot 308 and an Alpine in an xj6, I understand that the mg's hifi system is not very good.

So I bought some Focal speakers (co axial 165 K2 and 2 way 165 as)

No worries about fitting them.

But their connections leave me perplexed.

How do you fit the active crossover on the 2-way kit?

I understand that the rear speakers are already filtered so a coaxial will not be useful.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

I found the rear outputs aren’t filtered, at least not at the top end.

I bought the Match M5.4 DSP and decided to do things the hard way, by using front outputs for the front door mids and the rear outputs for the front tweeters, effectively bi-amping the setup. It did mean setting all of the roll-offs for both manually (not to mention all of the nine EQ levels), and re-cabling, but after several weeks of tweaking it sounds bloody amazing! Great soundstage. Thanks vm to whoever recommended Audiotec-Fischer a few pages ago :).

People say what you notice the most is upgrading the tweeters and it looks feasible to do so I've ordered a tweeter+crossover kit from ebay.

Will update once they arrive :)

What speakers/adaptors would you guys recommend for SE/Standard while retaining stock amp?

I see TS-A1600C mentioned in the first posts? Any other options, that would fit factory amp?

Long story short I've replaced the built in tweeters by

But after the change, I can hear noise and distortion at all sound levels. How could I troubleshoot this?

SOLVED: Solved by ensuring the ground cable was properly connected. I also trimmed cable ends to minimise noise. Tweeters are working 100% correctly now with the original car's amplifier.

WIP: Now I'm waiting for electronic components from China to build a custom crossover. Also, waiting for a 3D printed mounting adapter for the woofers.
