MG4 Trophy LR
My MG4 Trophy during the periods of frost, dirty rural roads and salting slides all over the place. The tyres have done 18k miles and have plenty of of tread, but it’s very twitchy.
Slightly better in weak recovery mode or snow mode. But some days are very uncomfortable. Any tips, I’ve already slowed down 😀

How many mm tread is on the rears?

I've had a couple of twitches this last few days with mine, but it soon rights itself when the stability control kicks in.

The stock tyres are very bad, mine always slips when going downhill over cattle grids, or often when braking lightly on a downhill in the wet, or sometimes accelerating lightly over some sort of non-standard road surface. I think they're very hard, good for longevity and probably range but not for grip. At some point I think I'll be replacing them

That's the loss of regen effect when one wheel loses traction.

Don't worry, the ESP at the MG4 is very sensitive to traction losses. Sometimes at dry roads more than i want from sporty RWD hatchback, even on "Sport mode".

Also, the IMCU make the power delivery slower after a few straight line traction losses. Again, Sometimes at dry roads more than needed in my opinion.

Also, at hard winter conditions (snow for example) in my opinion there is no replacement for a good winter tyres. You will not believe how much difference it makes. Even compare to snow chains and other snow/winter grip solutions

That's RWD for you. Had a drift on a crossroads the other day. Wet, slimy road and the tail was almost like this gif...caught me by surprise but luckily no cars from the other direction because it was late at night.

I've already replaced the rear tyres on mine with Bridgestone Turanza 6 all season tyres. Despite this, I had some slides today at junctions. Couple of runs to our local recycling centre, and the roads surrounding it appear to be very greasy, plus the cold/damp conditions meant even the new tyres struggled. My heavy right foot also probably played a part. Just need to bring the power in more gently until the car is lined up straight.

Put it in snow mode.

I am having similar issues over the past few weeks, I still have the Conti tyres that came as standard 12 months ago, rural here and it's slipping all over the place. Frustrating that it;s a lease car and I am told I have to fit very specific (therefore expensive) tyres to maintain lease warranty. Anyone else had that issue? I get the load rating will be higher but I am being told I can choose from only a few EV specific tyres. Is that an EV thing or just my lease company?!!

I have conti’s and it’s a lease also.
Since posting I’ve been driving in weak recovery lane assist off and it’s been loads better.
Range has dropped a bit but you end up using the brakes more which recovery energy anyway.
