Wireless Android Auto / Apple CarPlay adapters

I'm using the 'Motorola MA1 WIRELESS CAR ADAPTER FOR ANDROID AUTO' with my Samsung Flip 5. Works without any issues. In another car I'm using the Carsify.com wireless android auto adapter. That works fine too. The Carsify is a bit more configurable through an app, the Motorola MA1 has no app, but it has a button to switch between the paired phones. As such the Motorola MA1 seems less secure. But functionally they both do the job great and I prefer it a lot above the hassle of the wired connection and having music from Spotify already playing when entering the car.

I ordered the AAWireless TWO which is Android Auto only, but has good reviews and capability to switch between phones easily by push of a button. I'll share my experiences with Samsung Flip 6 and S21 when the car has finally arrived...

I'm still waiting for my car, so I will order the new Ottocast when released. Ottocast generally gets good reviews.

Please share which wireless adapter you are using in your Cyberster, and the pros and cons. Maybe also the type of phone(s) you use to connect to it.
I bought one on AliExpress for 15Usd and works fine. The problem I see is that since there is no wireless charging in the car and android auto consumes a lot of energy at the end I always have to plug in the phone so battery doesn't drain to fast so I have remove it and just plug the phone.

That's why I really want to use the 12V 120W from the trunk, and lead a cable to the interior. Then connect a magnetic wireless charger.

It'd be interesting to hear how you get on with patchy mobile phone coverage.

I'm using a dongle in my MG5 PFL and AA disconnects the wireless connection when mobile data drops out. It's flaming annoying, especially as I live a bit (but not that much) in the sticks.

Trawling t'internets shows a lot of people with various phones in various cars complaining about the issue - but no apparent action from Google.

Hi no need to use the 12 volt socket in boot and run a cable I just use the usb c socket under the arm rest and it plugs into a round style wireless charger pad that I placed on top of the first cup holder which I am happy not to use. Other cup holder still good access even with iPhone 11 Pro laid out on top of wireless pad. I also use a CarPlay dongle in the regular usb socket beside the usb c one under the arm test and all works in tandem. Regards Ronan

Great idea/setup - the only reason for using the 12V socket in the trunk is the amount of power. The USB C socket under the armrest is only 1.5A/5W (if I remember correctly) and the one in the trunk is 120W allowing for much faster charging - e.g. using the Apple Magsafe wireless adapter that charges with 25W (if supplied with at least 30W input).

According to the user manual, the rear power socket is connected to the fuse box in the front compartment (F44) and has a 25A fuse (edited: so more like 300W (12V*25A=300W)). So I would be tempted to lead a cable to the fuse box instead of the trunk.

There is also a fuse box in passenger compartment, with some unused slots. I wonder if we could add a 25A fuse there instead. That fuse box is located "behind the driver side knee trim panel", but not sure if the manual is for LHD or RHD.

For quite some time I have been using a
"UWECAN Android Auto Wireless Adapter"
in my MG4 Xpower and hope to transfer it seamlessly
to my Cyberster GT.
I still have to be patient for that.

Not necessarily - for short trips I think it's really nice not having to plug in the phone every time. But I agree on long trips the battery becomes an issue.

There is also the alternative of storing a certain amount of music on a USB stick and plugging it in if you really want to listen to selected music. I enjoy listening to the radio in the car and am curious to see how well the radio works in digital or analog.

I use it mainly for Waze, Flitsmeister (speed traps, speed sections), ABRP (navigation with EV charging stations), Spotify and TuneIn radio (better quality than DAB+, and stations always available wherever you are). So more than music alone, and many people no longer have a MP3 collection..
