Hi all , as some of you may know I've posted a number of videos on you tube on the vibration and the way MG, the dealer, finance company treated me.
By no means is the episode over.
Anyway the truth ? There are so many people denying there is a problem, if they feel their car doesn't vibrate that's fine, MGs UK theory that it's a "characteristic" is blown out the water. My dealers view that it's a fault along with the independent assessor and SIAC are going with fault is the truth. You can't have it fixed though because it's not a fault , but we will make you feel better and fit a steering damper to mask the underlying drive shaft problem.
I spoke to a MG technician, I have the recording, he said categorically the steering damper is the fix in place for newer vehicles, the suspension has never been modified on later cars. So the people who believe the later cars are immune are also wrong. He also told me they don't advise people of the characteristic at the point of sale because the steering damper fixes the issue. After I'd explained the real fix (suspension solution) he said that bulletin has been wiped from the MG system and not too buy an xpower. The technician was being honest here. I spoke with a salesman at another dealer he said he would not sell me one as I knew about it's issues. An honest salesman. I spoke with others who denied there was even a hint of an issue.
There is a workshop record/invoice online detailing a xpower that's had the suspension done, 2 weeks labour and over 2k in parts, they also mentioned changing bushes which means the faulty drive shafts is causing premature ware. I've also spoke with another owner who say this fix didn't work, possibly an MG employee, who knows. The truth is out there somewhere, I believe it to be cost avoidance also if they can't fix your car it would be returned or rejected so they use the excuse we've fixed it with the damper.
Regards Neil
