First problem in over four years but has put the car off the road for a couple of weeks before a garage can look at it (under warranty).

Sudden complete failure of power testing with associated error light and EPS failure message on dashboard. Have done a battery disconnect reset and checked the relevant 80A fuse. Any other suggestions, other experiences that may get me mobile again please?

As a long shot, check your battery voltage but if you've already tried the hard reset your options are limited. It may aid your understanding if you plug in a code reader to see exactly what fault codes are present.

it doesn't sound like DIY job and probably best not to touch it if they already confirmed it would be free fix under warranty ... last thing you want is to invalidate the warranty ...

Hey, How did you get on with getting this sorted under warranty? My partners car has just experienced the same issue after an annual service/update.

Sorry for not providing an update, a lot of distractions since it was fixed but it was a decisive fault that was fixed quickly once a slot and the parts were available. Apologies also, in particular, to those who came up with helpful suggestions.

I was told that it was a failure of the steering ‘Motor’/ electronics assembly, which is all part of the upper steering column, not down on the rack, so not a major job to replace. All has been good since.

Part came from UK warehouse so arrived and was installed within a few days of diagnosis all under warranty. If you have MG Assist then you should also be entitled to a replacement vehicle and transport of your vehicle to the garage. We benefited from the latter but didn’t take up the replacement car.

Anyone in the area, I highly recommend Bulldog of Twyford. Whilst they no longer have the sales franchise they are still a MG approved service agent and have always impressed me.

I hope that helps and reassures you.

Hi Graham,

Good to hear it's now been fixed. Fingers crossed it's a quick turnaround for ours also.

I think the replacement car is only for a few days through MG assist.
Not ideal if looking at a long repair time.
Time shall tell.
Thanks for the response!

Im MG4 Trophy owner and have come accross a similar issue. All of the sudden the following stopped working when I sat in the car: EPS partial failure, along with other safety features such as collision warnings, automatic beam etc. AA MG has said nothing they can do and the car has to be brough to MG Services for a potential software update.

What's annoying, I had my servicing in June and was told the software was updated. How naive of me it was to trust them and not to check it myself. It turns out the car is still on R33 software version which was last detected 23.01.2023.

Will keep you informed of an outcome whenever it is resolved.
