Hi folks.

Newbie question here. We are about to buy a new ZS EV and are wondering what charging cables it comes with. I’m assuming it comes with a Granny charger?

If that is the case, how long typically does if take to charge from a wall socket?
cheers

Hi, the granny EVSE will take 20+ hours if you have a low SOC.
You can add 2.2kWh per hour so 22kWh in ten hours which is about half your battery capacity.
What is your daily mileage?

If you don't do a lot of miles each day it is possible (just) to survive on a granny charger. I suggest you look into fitting a wall box ASAP to give you peace of mind.

I used a granny charger for several years. If you do up to say 100 miles per day and get home about 6 pm and leave at 8am you should be OK with the granny. If you do more miles per day or have less time at home then you need a higher power charger, unless of course you can charge at work?

Standard range or long range ?.
My guess would be it’s a standard range, but if it’s the long range, your charge time will need to be extended from a low SOC.
The standard range will wish to charge to 100% every time you plug it in, unless you stop the charge yourself manually.
On the long range model, you have the facility to choose the level / percentage of the SOC.
You decide / set the percentage level in the head unit or on the App.
Not possible on the standard model.
They have a different HV battery chemistry in both models.
Most long range owners set to charge to 80% for everyday use.
This will provide over 200 miles of predicted range.
Only charging to 100% for longer trips.
A wall box is a better long term solution if you are on a time of day tariff.
Most energy firms offer a cheaper off peak rate of around 5 hours, in the early hours of the morning.
Maximising this cheap rate is more cost effective if you have a wall box.
You are able to add roughly 25 miles of extra range into your battery per hour with a wall box.
Not so with the Granny lead as the charge rate is slow.
