Playing around in anticipation of elec deal with Octopus ending, cross checked with Ohme and Octopus stats so pretty accurate, Year average m/kWh taken instead of present 3.8m/kWh summer tripmeter reading, adjusted to reflect a 500mile 'tank' if you get what I mean!

Appears I'm already well on the way to recovering the £3/4 grand excess to purchase an EV.

if/when the new price cap of 52p per kwh kicks in it will be about 16p per mile.
I get 50 mpg from my hybrid Niro which also equates to abt 16p per mile

Have you included the approx 15% charging loss for charging on AC?
It doesn't make much difference to an off peak charging rate but does narrow the gap to petrol costs if you are charging at peak, or at a rapid charger (5-10% loss).

99% of my charging at 5p (off peak) see what happens in Feb when my deal expires.
Given I do 18k a year pretty important to me

As mentioned have cross checked with Ohme and Octopus, actual kwh used/cost so assume all losses included.

Ahhh but!! whatever the new tarrifs, I understand they will be 'frozen' for a period of time, petrol will still be subject to the oil markets
