MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

Had car 4 days, 150 miles. Discovered oil leak as it's all over my drive. I took it back to garage straight away this morning. They thought it was coming from the diff but it’s not. They have kept car investigating, anyone else had this?

Hope you get this resolved quickly.

Brake fluid? 'transfer box' oil?

Don't think there is much else that could do that to your driveway.

No idea waiting on head office getting back to them have told them they have a couple days to get back to me not prepared to wait it’s brand new after all

I noticed a wee spot this morning roughly where the rear nearside wheel would have been. Very small but will keep a close eye on it.

There hasn't been anything before that but it did it's first decent run yesterday.

Pretty sure it’s oil

The reduction gearbox is the only thing that has oil in it.

Reduction gearbox? What's that used for? (I thought the rear wheels were direct drive from the motor).

No, the motor speed has to be reduced to match the required range of wheel speeds.

We've had our sr since Saturday and I've just noticed some stain on our drive but it's more spread out done about 80 miles in it

Hi we have the same problem. The garage has looked at it and have kept the car. It is a leak from the motor and they need advice from MG on how to fix it. Ours is aTrophy with 200 on the clock.

I have car back apparently it was gearbox overfill at factory on another note I had a zs ev tropthy for the day couldn’t wait to get my .4 back imo it’s so much better

BIG sigh of relief all round
I was thinking that could be the case. It was either that or the filler/drain plug not tightened or, very unlikely due to the age of the car, a seal weeping.

Any update on this? This is just a batch or all of them - make me worry about the PDI - both this and flat batteries on the other forum - really does worry me a but

Update from our dealer the leek on ours is further up on the motor they are waiting for mg to get back to them they tried the over fill no luck I bet there will be more out there
