Hi, does anyone with a Trophy know if it is possible to schedule cabin preheating in the car controls as this doesn't seem possible in the SE LR? Below is a photo of the charge scheduling screen in my SE LR.

In general the software seems quite reluctant to let you remotely control the HVAC at all: sometimes doesn't connect, won't work if at max charge target, no scheduled preconditioning, only active for 10 mins, once that expires no further remote HVAC within ~45 mins. Bit of a shame really as getting into a nice warm car in the winter was one of the features I was most looking forward to in my first EV.

Remember when we had to sit in the car ? to warm it up...perspective....better to have something than nothing in my humble opinion. I am sure s/w improvements going forward will give us better settings.

Our last 2 EVs have allowed scheduled heating / cooling etc and this latest one doesn’t ……we’ve gone backwards from my ‘norm’. So it’s something worse than previous.

So does my current EV, but in the whole scheme of things at this price point, sitting having my breakfast whilst manually remote preheating/cooling (putting any connection issues to one side) rather than schedule is no real hardship.

If plugged in you also can’t pre-heat/cool unless the car is charging. I don’t want to start charging at peak rates just so I can put the heating on, or have to go outside and unplug it.
Stupid set-up.

MG aren’t new to the EV game, they should have had all this sorted up front.

Agreed re not overriding schedule to allow preheating...not even from the battery. Who is going to go outside to cancel schedule and then plug it back in again...assuming that does work. I don't have my car yet but will changing schedule time to , for example 00:30 to 11:00, with 90% charge level (if possible in the lower rate time period) work? Don't know. I am sure a S/W fix will sort this as it is just a cp signalling issue I think..

As for MG not being new to the game let's cut them some slack on a new platform with potentially new software. There are bound to be issues but as previously stated we need to put them in perspective. I am going in with my eyes wide open regarding issues, snagging etc.

If I knew for sure these things would be fixed in app / car software I would be fine with waiting a while. I expect the bugs will be the focus for a while though before we're likely to see improved app features.

I'm not familiar with the rest of the line-up, does the ZS EV and/or MG5 have this?

The MG ZS facelift only has an App in top of the range form, the MG5 facelift that hasn't arrived in the UK yet only has a cut down App. In neither case does it have the feature that you want.
FWIW Nissan LEAF from 2011 onwards (even those sold in China) have had this, so it's not exactly rocket science or out of the box thinking.

MG/SAIC have a history of only introducing "enhancements" on new vehicles, not adding them retrospectively to existing cars.

This is not encouraging even though I am determined to go ahead with the purchase despite all the software niggles , scheduled charging should not be that difficult, isn't that mean to just be a scheduled job.

Is it not first MG model what have OTA? What would be the point if not update anything

Not entirely true
Just tried mine now after completing a 100% charge and a Balance
No timer involved on the charger or car though, as its a work charger.

Preheat worked fine via the app with the Charger Cable still connected but not charging.
even changed the heat from 17 deg to Max via the app and the fan kicked into another gear whilst i was stood nearby.
What I don't like is the car lit up like a xmas tree while its doing it

Side lights and rear lights on, kind of a silly idea, I know they're LED so will be low power draw but even so, it will attract attention.
The charger also kicked back in once again, when the pre heat was started
Pulling about 3kw according to the app.

So it does seem to work ok
on mine anyway

That seems to confirm it is not overriding a schedule set in the car rather than just plugged in with no schedule. The issue for most of us is we get special overnight rates, octopus go for example. This is a real pain if you are on such a schedule and want to preheat the car. To my mind it is a simple s/w fix but MG urgency to fix is anybodies guess...if at all.

I was wondering if a work around was to set schedule from 00:30 to 11:00 with charge set at, for example, 80%, on the basis the lower rate window would get you to 80% but the schedule is still active? I don't have my vehicle yet so could someone try it if that setting is possible?

So I charged up last night, it got to 75%. I set the charge rate now on my app for 70% so it wouldnt take charge, and manually set my charger to charge and says waiting for car demand. It didnt work, I tried remotely unlocking the car, then locking it, didnt work. I tried releasing the car from the charger remotely and that didnt work.

You can feedback issues via the app so I suggest that everyone does so atleast MG can see the issues we have.

Tried it for the first time via the app this morning in my Trophy.
Not plugged in, I didn't realise about the 10minute rule, but mine did switch off. Have to agree, the lighting up of the car during pre-heat is unnecessary and unwanted.

Did you set the actual charge % in the car with no car schedule of any sort. Ensure the charger is dumb?
Not doubting you just nailing down the procedure to make sure that it doesn't provide a work around.
