kinky....Here it is.
kinky....Here it is.
You can see from the picture it is attached to a metal plate to stabilise the extension.Where exactly does it fit?
Will it be secure or will it wobble about and (potentially) vibrate loose?
The plate has a hole in it , would think this is a direct fixing to the casing.Key word being reported. There's a chance that the other 11+ don't even know about the issue and so are blissfully unaware.
Presumably the metal plate itself will be secured to the housing in some way, and not just at the base fixing point. Otherwise you've just got additional mass to vibrate away.![]()
Brilliant, hopefully mine soon then at South Shields...Update on mine which I took delivery on Tuesday and realised was leaking yesterday, really couldn't fault Richard Hardie in Ashington, they bent over backwards to get me in this morning.
A few hours later and it's been re-filled and their first revised breather kit arrived this morning which they've fitted to mine, so feel quite lucky.
They said it's so new it hasn't even got a part no for them to claim it back yet, apparently slightly fiddly to fit on but maybe because it was the first.
Fingers crossed that's mine sorted!
They wont do this as new breathers only being fitted to cars that actually leak and dealer has to confirm leak and apply for part via the warranty. Hopefully yours will not leak? Also would think this new breather will be fitted at production for those expecting cars later in the year or next.Just emailed my dealer saying that I'd like the modified breather fitted before I collect the car, rather than waiting for my drive to be stained and having to take it back. I'd rather be proactive and try and prevent it from happening in the first place.
I'll see how they respond. My car hasn't arrived yet, unless it has and they haven't told me, so it should be possible to do the mod before handover.
Sounds like they don't really know what it is then. As surely if that was the correct repair, all new cars would be fitted with the 'breather'. In not doing this with a new car ready to be given to an owner, is it a case for the next 5 years, say, every car will happily be given to an owner to leak first, then repair. They wont do this as new breathers only being fitted to cars that actually leak
Which is kind of my point - I don't really want to "hope" that the car won't leak, knowing that a part is available that can be installed before I collect. They wont do this as new breathers only being fitted to cars that actually leak and dealer has to confirm leak and apply for part via the warranty. I agree with you, however I am just stating what I have been told from the sevice department at my dealer. Probably only a limited amount of modified breathers available at the moment, so those that have leaks deserve to get fixed first.Which is kind of my point - I don't really want to "hope" that the car won't leak, knowing that a part is available that can be installed before I collect.
It may be that the initial batch of breathers is reserved for customers who have seen the oil leak and later on they may retrofit, or even do that at first service.Sounds like they don't really know what it is then. Sounds like a car equivalent of punch first, questions later.

Most buyers won't be scouring the net and won't be gawping under thier cars, so I'd expect most leaks won't be seen until oil marks are noted where the car is parked, clean oil too, so even then it might be missed, especially if parked on the public road.Key word being reported. Naughty....I am not awake that many hours^ Just shows that every owner of any car should check underneath of their vehicle a minium of 15 times per day. Preferably at strict hourly intervals.
I've been following this exact regime for 9 decades now ?^ Just shows that every owner of any car should check underneath of their vehicle a minium of 15 times per day. Preferably at strict hourly intervals.
