The main gripe is changing drive mode and regen mode ... unless you have a Trophy then these can only be done via the Infotainment screen - and the targets aren't that big. (OK if you do it before you start, but not so easy when you're already driving. If the car remembered your last settings then this likely wouldn't be a problem, but it doesn't - it always reverts to NORMAL drive mode and Regen level 3. Personally I prefer CUSTOM - everything Normal but Power set to ECO - and Adaptive regen).

Totally agree, preferred driving mode should be retained. Also lane assist which does not work well in the UK unless you are on a motorway, should remain turned off if you choose.

Modern buttons don’t Fail that often. Another bonus for manufacturers is that using the software instead of physical buttons saves money.

Think that is the main reason the button is becoming extinct. I hadn't realised just how much I used the recirculation button on my last car, could hit it immediately when some stinking bus or van belched out a cloud of carcinogenic particulates.
Small details like this matter.

I think that's personal opinion. I have personally found it irritating on UK roads as you can often cross a white line with the car going into a correction mode when not needed.
So mine gets switched off every time I venture out... via a physical button

Who knows your guess is as good as ours, there are so many updates, it's hard to say which one has done what's. There is mention of a newer update that makes you unable to keep it off

Nope, did it from day 1 (collected 5/11)

i have read this forum and listened to a couple of podcasts and it seems quite a few are intent on moaning about the car. i can also say the latest software update has been positive in that it has addressed quite a few of the ‘complaints’… eg locking in and shortcuts to climate control. it seems that MG higher bods are listening and I think deserve a decent share of the market. The only thing I would perhaps be slightly critical of is the rear boot look and long delivery expectation. My car is replacing a 10 year old diesel which strangely probably does better 50 mpg but also needs to pay the ULEZ fee. However I still love this MG4 which is roomy, classy and even has heated seats….

You mention software update? My dealer says there isn’t one and they would recall mine when its out? Can you advise…

They are just not prepared in advance or suitably trained to deal with multiple customer issues. I would suggest that many other makes of dealer would also struggle. The standards are very low. We keep buying cars though. The whole industry needs a sea change.
I’ve said before - throw it open to competition, instead of this closed shop franchise practice. Provide quality networks with the dealer information on recalls, specifications etc.
I bet companies like Cazoo would love to have a go at dealer servicing and warranty repairs.
