MG4 Restricted speed - weird

I was ‘lucky’ in that I was able to make the problem appear on demand, so was able to go out anytime with a passenger videoing.

A “known problem” they will be proactive about and issue a recall…
Or one they will keep shtum about and wait for people to complain…

Meanwhile some poor sod will find themselves halfway past a truck and not being able to complete the overtake.

Happened to me last week, when to overtake a lorry on the dual carriageway, halfway passed restricted to 60 mph & now there's another car on my tail, had no more ado than put hazard lights on slow down to pull back in behind lorry to now let several irate drivers pass, all this with some 18% soc. Dealer informed, awaiting a response ?

This is quite obviously a fault on some cars. My SE SR goes like a bat out of hell, and last week on the M74 I looked down and saw 92. I had had no idea I was going that fast. The lowest I've taken the charge is 19% but it was still up for anything at that point.

Are we seeing this power issue just on the SR like Bowfer had, or is it on the 64kw models too?

I don't know the number of my software version, but when I collected my car on 13th April the salesman said it had had the latest software installed that morning. I have no reason to disbelieve him.

They allegedly changed hardware in my car (the traction motor)
Made no difference.

Interesting theory, care to elaborate? Traction system as in the ESC/no-wheelspin software?

I mean everything to do with the motor and controller, no inside knowledge, but they have had a number of updates to try and fix issues like these and they seem to make some difference for some but not fix it fully.

If that’s the speed limiter setting under cruise control, it’s off?

On the panel in front of the driver, on the menu on the right (that shows miles done and rates since charging / starting / long range, one of the menus there has a speed limit (or is it a warning?) setting.

It isn't in the usual menu on the large display, so just checking you haven't activated that on the driver front panel- mine is set to 85.

I’m guessing nearly 6 months?
