MG4 X-Power waiting area

I can,t tell if you are missing the point, but the French driver will overtake you to gain one place in a line of traffic, whether he/she is driving a rs2000, scenic, or twingo. A X power will just make it easier, hence the comment. I used (you) in the broad democratic meaning , not personal, god knows I.ve upset enough people on this forum!

I used to do that when I was in my early twenties. It's juvenile.

Je vous vois dépasser rapidement et avec force et vous faites honte à mon français. Malgré 16 ans en France j’utilise microsoft translate. Ne plus Madam ,ne plus.

Well, well. One of the things that was turning me off the idea of the X-Power was that it's actually Trophy specs, and I prefer the SE.

Now I discover that the Trophy spec doesn't even come with actual leather seats, as I had believed from hearing people talk about the Trophy having leather seats, but with a grotty vinyl composite fake leather which seems to be wearing at a rate of knots. These Trophy seats look like a downgrade from the SE's cloth seats.

How dare you , people make a good living coming up with terms like 'vegan leather' and you have the temerity to call BS on it ? Shame on you.
Trophy spec should mean having the ability to turn off auto lock though

You be careful questioning the quality of the materials now, every time I do that I get told to do all sorts ?

I just saw the picture of the 7-month-old Trophy with the seat beginning to disintegrate. I am literally shocked to my socks. I heard people talking about the Trophy having leather seats and thought, that's nice. I now find they are crappy vinyl, and my jaw is still on the floor.

I looked at the apparent quality of the cloth seats on my SE and thought, looks pretty hard-wearing to me, can't see why they would only put a year's warranty on these. But I bought the seat covers anyway, for that reason, and to lighten up the interior, and to guard against incontinent pets.

£160, and I reckon my seat covers are more durable than the Trophy's seats as supplied. Now I reckon that short warranty period is because they know the Trophy seats are going to fall apart. Probably nothing to do with the SE seats.

And as for the auto-lock, let's not confuse the fact that the SE and the Trophy have different software bugs, with actual differences in spec.

Yeah, I can just see the developers sitting around and saying, well, the Trophy has the sexy spoiler, and the "leather" heated seats, and the folding wing mirrors, and the auto-anti-dazzle mirror, and the rear speakers, and the phone charging pad, and the inbuilt satnav (and probably more I've forgotten about), and we'll market it on these features.

But then we'll sneakily remove the disabling of the auto-lock and the ability of the music player to read folders from the SE software, oh and let's also jemmy it so the radio always comes on when they sit down, and it won't save us a brown ha'penny, but that'll really stick it to these skinflints who decided on the SE, won't it. They won't know about any of this, but they'll find out after they've bought the car, bwahahahaha!

Enjoy your vanishing HVAC screen and the way your phone keeps unpairing and the LKA that comes on every time your infotainment screen switches between light and dark modes....

I mean, if Trophy spec is your thing it's not the end of the world that the seats are crap material. Just buy the Aliexpress covers in your choice of finish. But do it when you get the car. Not after you've been getting out and in the car for seven months.

Are you on commission from Ali Express for the number of seat covers sold? ?

It doesn't say they are leather on the site, it says they are leather style

OK, I'll shut up about it. I'm genuinely shocked though. It seems so dishonest to use the word leather when what you're selling is basically plastic.
In most case when a manufacturer describes the material as vegan leather it is actually quite a hi end, hi tech fabric, Volvo use it in their cars and it's apparently very good.
In MGs case it does appear more like vinyl which is hardly surprising at the price point

"Vegan Leather" usually refers to Polyurethane, so basically a return to vinyl seats.

Well, you learn something new every day. If nobody was deceived about what they were getting then there's no reason to complain, but I think I would prefer cloth seats to ersatz leather, no matter how high-end. Whether what MG have fitted to the Trophy is indeed high-end seems to be the question.
