Every car fitted with LKA allows you to turn it off completely, they just differ as to how (screen or button).
When shopping for our next car, for my wife, a criteria will be a physical button or the ability to select off as a permanent thing via OBD11.

Most of them just let you turn it off for that drive, some with a button, some hidden int eh menus. The MG5 lets you turn it off 'permanently'. Whether that will still be the case after the next software update, I have no way of knowing.

I have no problem with LKA turned down to low sensitivity driving around locally.
The only time it tugs at the wheel is when I'm changing lanes without indicating and in this case I have hold of the wheel firmly anyway as I'm steering into the other lane.

Same here - it’s fine if changing lanes with indicators. And it only comes in when ACC is active.

I have it set in alert + low so it rarely comes on. My wife doesn’t like it at all but if manageable like this.

Those of us what were properly taught use our mirrors then signal if appropriate. Signalling to an empty road is pointless.

Agreed. For those whose opinions differ, search out Ashley Neal on YouTube ... he's a driving instructor who also instructs other DIs. He often talks about people who use MSM by rote are the type who become poorer drivers, as they do things automatically rather then when needed - as such their observation worsens over time.

Yes. When your look behind you is done to make the decision as to whether or not to signal, you pay attention to what you see. If you're going to signal anyway, the look can become perfunctory and there's a danger you simply signal then pull out without registering what you saw.

Of course the full mantra is mirror, signal if necessary, manoeuvre if it is safe to do so. Making the decision as to whether to signal dependent on whether there's anyone to signal to ensures that you actually register what you see in the mirror.

Sometimes I'll do the mirror bit then not signal at all, because what I have seen has shown me that the manoeuvre I was going for should not be attempted at that time.

If you believe by looking you are infallible and make your decisions base on that then I'm happy for you ?

What has this got to do with being a safe driver.....?

I mearly pointed out that if you indicate the system knows what you are doing is intentional...the fact the road is empty is a mute point unless you think that indicating to no one is in some way unsafe...?

The thread is about lane keep assist and I wonder why people always complain about it...?

Advanced driving courses teach drivers to indicate as necessary, not to use the indicators when there's nobody there to indicate to. If a driver had been taught that way and has driven that way all their life, it's going to be a tough call to get them to change.

Inability to adapt and take on new concepts also ranks quite highly in human factors.... ? ?
