Hi Guys,

I am planning to schedule the charging for midnight, which I did use the app and also the infotainment system. But when try I tried to change the SOC mode from 80% to 90%, it doesn't change? when I tried to move the line from 100% to 90%, it moves and doesn't locks into 90%. I understand setting it to 100% is not healthy for the battery.

any advice on how to set this up?

Thanks in advance.

Basically its always set to Long-trip mode, when I try to move it to the left, it just flips it back to 100% long trip mode

I noticed that lock back to 100% from 90% too and says failed in a very small font in the bottom of the screen(barely visible and disappears quickly) but when I go back to remote control and come back to charging management, it sticks on sometimes(as if its a refresh). Its a bit of a hit and a miss on this. It will be worth starting to charge manually(start charging) once immediately as it sticks rather than scheduled charging.

I personally use Ohme home pro charger which comes with scheduling. I use scheduling on there to schedule my charging and it works well for me. MG often listen to customer concerns and fix issues and I am sure they would be looking at these issues and hopefully in the near future the app is more robust and these issues are fixed.

My app seems to have locked in long range mode without me being able to dial the planned SoC back to the health mode around 80 per cent. It probably doesn't matter that much, but I'd like to be able to choose my own set up as it should work.

Any ideas why it's locked and how to change it back?

This is the zs room but is it a LR or SR the option to reduce charge range is only available for LR models SR models should be charged to 100% so no option to reduce it

It's the SR. I have had the option to set the target battery level and it worked for about 15 days until it disappeared...

If it’s a Gen 2 ZS EV model standard range, then you do not have the ability to charge to any setting other than 100% SOC.
Although the App shows this facility, the car will not perform this function.
When you plug in a standard range model, regardless of its current SOC it will charge back up to 100 %.
The LR model is different, as you ARE a able to chose your required SOC from both the App and the info unit.
Both models have different HV battery chemistry and therefore MG have decided this is best charging policy for both each models.

Is there any update or fix to this problems?
I don’t think there is every likely to be a “fix” as such, because on the standard range model with the LFP battery, it was intended that the car could be charged to 100% SOC with no detrimental long term affects on the HV battery.
This is why the standard range car was not given the ability to set a percentage level when charging.
The LR models do have a totally different battery chemistry and therefore the feature of setting a percentage charge level was made available on this model.

This is not a problem for the SR cars. If you have a standard range ZS then the battery chemistry is different from the LR. SR uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries in it's pack and these can be charged to 100% without affecting battery health. The LR has Lithium Ion cells (NMC) which if charged to 100% all the time will degrade the battery life.

I have an MG5 Long range and according to what @peterseddon mentioned the feature to stop at 80% becomes even more relevant for long range cars. Is MG working on any updates to there software cause this seems a rather simple fix?

This is the ZS forum not MG5.

I think the MG5 LR is actually LFP chemistry as the SR ZS is.

So there will be no change to this function as it isn't needed on LFP as the "health" aspect is not a factor.
