I've had the car for two days. Today, I drive to work and back, which is only 6 km in total. Using Android Auto and aircon. Range dropped from 204 to 168, both estimated in Normal mode. Thoughts from experienced owners appreciated.

Your range will change based on a few factors such as driving style, your predicted range is mostly based on a history of this. But it is only predicted. I think that you need to fully charge your car until the MG badge goes out. With all accessories off check the voltage shown. It should show around 449v. From fully charged you can use the car and see what km/kwh you get. I’d give it until you get a few miles on the car. If your fully charged voltage is well below then you may have the faulty Bms but I doubt it as all cars should now be ok. As long as the voltage is ok use your car and you’ll find it will settle down and you’ll get to understand the predicted range better. I hope that you enjoy your new car.

That is very normal, the range is a guess, it has no idea how efficiently you're going to drive - dependant on what you're doing you could literally get half the range.

This is day 3 of MG asking my dealer for lots of data and downloads from my main battery history as I have had range problems for the past 5 months - will report back when I get more info !!

At the beginning of charging last night, the capacity was 77% and the range (on the charging screen) was 197, which is 7 km less than the day before, or about right. Interested to see whether the range estimation on the speedometer screen learns from my driving once I've completed more klms. The drive to work is quite leisurely without much opportunity to race or push the car.

Thanks, Paul225. Interested in your progress.

You will seldom see the same range in the GOM after each charging session. If you don't do any long journey's, then try to drive the car in an non-economical way, use the heater as you want it to be. Don't put the car in Eco mode. Suddenly you will see the car's GOM getting more accurate in guessing your driving style. Mine has started to very very precise. But if you expect the same range every time to be 263 km. Then you will be desipointed. Enjoy your car.

Thanks, Jep. It's a shame that the battery toggle doesn't also show %, which might be more reassuring to drivers. I am enjoying the car. This is my first EV, so I'm also settling into it.

Hi camith. And you will enjoy your MG and EV even more when you get it under your skin. Remember, when you reach your last bar of remaining battery you still have 25 % left. Many get scared when they only have one bar left. For me it has been importen to know what is going on with the GOM in the lower end of the Battery remaining. If you start to explore that, you will see the GOM to be very accurate, and often the range on the GOM is dropping slower then what you actually drive. Don't get foolish, but it is good to know what is going on in the lower end.
Ps. The MG is our second attempt in EV's, and none of them has pulled my pants down in the bottom end?

Thanks again, Jeb. I am a novice and probably overthinking things. So, the battery gauge is not linear? Each bar isn't necessarily 12.5%?

The performance is impressive. It puts you back in your seat if you want it to. My wife says: "just drive it like your old petrol car, stop worrying so much". She's a wise woman. :)

Yeah, you got a very good co-driver there ??

No, the Battery gauge is not linear ?, it's a shame that they have done it like that. I know some has figured out how it is put together, so I hope someone will share that information to you from this very nice forum?
And hopefully on a new update to the system, they will include battery% on the now redundant "battery" flipper.

Dealer has put more data back to MG and 12v has been reset - all HVAc switched off for testing -overnight they are reporting 159 range - got to try it out for a couple of weeks !!

Ref Camith original question, using heating/aircon and Normal will (each) reduce the actual usable miles or kilometers. I usually reckon on about 15 miles each, and that is per hour, or any part of an hour. This is what makes planning a longer trip in real time so difficult.
Moreover, when the GOM gets really low, the display cuts off at about 5 miles remaining, and changes to ---. Having got that low several times, the car has never actually stopped, but does leave a certain cold sweat aroma in the car....

Control Tested on mine several time.
The GOM will show going to down to 10 but nothing lower, it then will display - - -.
At that point - need to look at your cars mileage figure and count up to 10 before... pull over immediately & arghhhhhh!!

I have never carried on driving until the car actually stopped with dead battery as this means you need a tow home. I have driven for some 7 miles with the GOM showing ---. Its not fun.

Thankfully neither have I!
I let it run completely down to dead on the driveway.
