Had a fright yesterday when the ZS would not move...
I had completed a 60 mile trip, on Motorway and A roads, and arrived at Chievely Motorway services. I had to wait for an hour to get to the Rapid charger, as there was already another MG on the rapid, and VW using the fast charger. Once the MG moved off the VW took the rapid CCS...
Anyway to get back to the story, I charged up to about 85% on the rapid (Ecotricity), stopped the charge and unhooked. Set the the SAT NAV system, and put the car into gear. It would not procede...I closed it down and tried again, No go. So again closed it down, got out and opened and closed all the doors, and tried again. No luck.
So I rung up Panda Cars in Swansea where I bought the car, and spoke to Paul, who is the servicing manager. Just as I spoke to him the car jerked into life, and was able to move.
Paul told me that this was not uncommon after a rapid charge, as the battery was too hot, and needed a few minutes to cool down. A service almost better than the AA or RAC, many thanks Paul for being so helpful.....
Anyway, I then drove to the next charging station at Cardiff Gate, did much the same, but had no particular problem there.
Phew...............
Just to add the car was a delight to drive, with the ACC set to 60 or 65mph. Range is always a bug bear, but the car is good.
Only other fly in ointment was the SAT NAV. Despite checking post codes, and the system showing me a destination that I knew was correct, the *u*k**g thing took me way off the correct route. First time it happened I followed it, thinking it knows better, the second time I stuck to my known route. Its not the route you really need to know, its mileage left to get to the destination that is vital on longer trips..................
Also have to add, a 200 mile trip in an ICE takes 3 hours, in the MG and many other EV's the trip took 5 hours with charging stops. This partially due to the pressure on chargers, only once did I have arrive at an unused charger, so just the charging time needed. When I go to Surrey again in April, I think I may well use the Ionity charger station, as there are 4 rapid chargers available, and hopefully won't have to wait for other EV's to complete their charge. Costs double I know, but if it saves an hour of waiting, I think it will be worth it...........
