My eyesight was deteriorating alarmingly from 2020 to 2022. It had got to the point that although I could read a number plate at 25 metres (with the right glasses, but frankly as soon as I got new glasses it all started to go pear-shaped again) I'm not sure I was really safe to drive, especially at night.
In June 2022 I had cataract surgery and my eyesight is pretty much perfect again, for distance vision. I need reading glasses, and prefer to wear varifocals with an almost plain upper section to save always having to put on glasses to read, but in the car I can read the screens perfectly with the varifocals on, and with no glasses at all I can actually read what's there, although it's slightly out of focus.
Let's hear it for modern medicine.
