I have worked with Japanese in Osaka for 18 months which is I believe, a similar culture. They listened to what the customer wanted and changed things overnight, they were really keen to be seen as the best in the world at what they did.
I think you're probably right about the cultures being similar, but the Japanese aren't trying to regain "face" from the opium wars debacle.

I could have this all wrong, that's why I think local guidance is needed.

Agreed, I think it's worth trying for mutual benefit between us and SAIC, I'm sure if explained correctly in the right places they would see the wisdom.

Thanks to everyone who has voted in the poll so far. The leading topic is Common MG EV issues and how to solve them with over half of the voters choosing it and this will be the topic for our next podcast - Monday July 8th at 7:30pm BST.
I've removed that option from the poll so that we have votes for the following podcast.
Please adjust your votes with the remaining options.
Thank you.

Could there be a discussion about MG as a manufacturer and the opinions of both customers and partners (dealers)?

I've seen an article recently where MG is the bottom of the list in a survey of dealers based on their levels of support and speed of resolution of issues (I have personal experience on that one..)

I also watched a Youtube video today focussing on a specialist dealer (EV Experts) of pre owned EVs who won't sell MGs (and Vauxhalls) because of various issues with manufacturer support, resolution times and parts availability

Would be an interesting conversation

I have posted in the wrong place I think - then I found this. Would it be possible to cover Gridserve compatibility with facelift Sept 2022 onward ZS EV. My supplying dealer said keep away from them back when I took delivery. I’ve not had the guts to try them since as don’t want to risk being bricked!

I voted road trip as so many are yet to do this.

Better still, an EV road trip overseas, seems plenty of us have dared to travel afar!

We had a discussion about the different British political parties and their general EV policies , with an upcoming American election looming perhaps giving the major players a once over to ascertain which way the wind is blowing across the water. ?

MG EVs aren't available in the US, so from the specific aspect of MG EV owners, will the American election will be relevant?

The British discussion was not MG specific, although I do see your point. The American car market is one of the biggest in the world and the decisions made there can filter down to affect us. ( will the EV market stall for example ) Those policies come down from the top after much lobbying and so a hypothetical discourse might prove to some enlightening or even entertaining. A discussion point could be , if the US future point of view is to reject EVs as the dominant form of mass transport then will the European manufacturers still see an ICE market there and keep on lobbying to retain their status quo here and effectively split the world into two camps.

Had my 23 plate ZS SR for a year now, Gridserve works on the whole for me and I've used them quite a lot, but I do realise there can be differences depending on what EVCC version is in your car.

I usually stop charging sessions from the App or the Car rather than on the charger screen.

An update on the ZS EV 2023 models which have the discharge issue due to what appears to be the EVCC version and a chip shortage meaning the feature was dropped. Currently waiting for my local dealer to come back to me on what MG UK decide in terms of the fix, and if it will be covered under Warranty. Dealer has NO clue.

How about getting a group together that can pool an action or request to SAIC on behalf of UK users. A group that can help SAIC to improve their product. A group that can highlight common issues. All often discussed on here but with no apparent link to SAIC where something could get done. We need to try and get SAIC onboard.

All of this is of course in my humble opinion.
I voted for this. I think one of the single most issues on this forum is software updates due to it being a post code lottery deciding if your local dealer is in the habit of installing them during a service. I find it completely unacceptable that updates are not viewed as an essential part of the service - are they on the job sheet to be ticked off? There is so little mechanically to check compared to the ICE car, that you would think this would be a way to provide value for money.

MG could save a lot of hassle by requiring Dealerships to carry out updates at service time.
Or let customers install their own like Hyundai did when I had my 2019 Ionic.
Or develop OTA updates - even better.

Some insurers are not offering quotes for MG EVs due to parts availability and manufacturers repair guidance. Maybe cover that.
