Cyberster - what we know so far

very nice event! I'm looking forward to seeing what the German car dealerships have to offer. Will they organise an event like this or will you be handed the keys after a short briefing, receive a friendly handshake and then be allowed to leave? I'll be surprised! Hopefully I'll be able to order the car soon, it's burning under my fingernails!

Maybe Germany will get a higher top speed. I heard 126mph is just the starting point on the Autobahn lol. Then again theres probably a safety reason for the low top speed. Besides we will all be restricted and reported on soon.

£50k for effectively a re-bodied MG4 is utter insanity.
Something tells me the Cyberster is going to flop!

is that a model S on your profile pic because they are quite popular and i see them every day
Are you serious - this is good looking car, with similar performance to a Tesla Model 3 Performance for the same money and there is nothing like it, especially from Porsche. two seater / soft top is not for me, but many will like / buy it.

Most EVs will share platforms this is not news lool...The skateboard layout makes it easier and cost saving. Even if it flops in UK it will do well overall due to the various markets the car will be in. Especially emissions strict markets. Only issue hindering UK is cost and brand name. If they reduce it by 10-15k it could make a big difference to sales numbers. Maybe the GTS if produced will cost slightly less. Never know

For anyone interested here's a nice clip from the cocktail reception/handover event. Senior MG leadership gave some nice presentations and overall MG did a pretty professional/successful event. For our UK friends keep the faith! Its worth it. :)

Good Video. ??
Lovely motors ??
Shite music. ??

Lovely wife accepting gifts ?(y) :ROFLMAO: (Just scoring some points) ??
pros and cons eh. Im not sure we will get all that here. But its a nice touch! Youre not buying a computer LOL so they should make an effort!

I like the gloss black wrap in the grill. I can imagine the front grill area wrapped on white or yellow car all black.

100% reduced battery prices, improved tech and software, insane competition from China, all will reduce performance prices by £5-10K. New models from BYD & Zeekr are insanely good.

Anyone who placed an order in the uk. Has anyone actually had a confirmed delivery and handover date yet ?
Things seem to have gone a little quiet.

Not here! Ordered day one and zero confirmation of anything - emails to dealer are replied with, ‘when we know anything we’ll pass it on’.

There are meant to be some in the UK but they need to sort some governmental crap out before they can go to dealers as either demo cars or sales.

The problem with comms appears to be MGUK rather than the dealers (who appear to also be completely in the dark!).

There’s at least one person on Facebook that’s been given 9/9 as collection date but from what others have said there dealers have said that’s just a dealer being speculative. Some, me included have rung round various dealers and none seem to know anything.

I personally have nearly given up twice (test drove a Taycan and made an initial enquiry about a Tesla M3P (both of which I could collect within days)).

I’ve test driven the Tesla M3P and it’s fantastic. Highly likely to be much better than Cybester, apart from looks, in every way!

Only reason why I’m not getting one is my last 2 cars were a 21’M3LR and then a 22’M3P (got a really good trade in a few months ago so haven’t had a car since then in prep for the Cyberster!). And the one I’d want is a red with white interior, which is what I just traded in. So apart from the slightly better looks of the refresh I’d be doing like for like and I’d have been looking at the same interior for the last 3 cars. The Taycan was an awesome machine but a ‘23 4S (which is what I’m after) is just out of reach at the moment.

Only problem for me with the Tesla MP3 is every other car on the road seems to be a white Tesla model 3. Personally looks are one of the major factors in my car purchases, one of the reasons I bought a Ford Mach e as my electric 4 seater car I liked the look of it.My son as a Tesla model 3 after picking me up taking me to the football took us 30 minutes to open the glovebox to retrieve my house keys as he had forgotten what sub menu he needed to be in. Mach e as a normal glove box. Tesla just looks like a 4 door saloon for the masses no character, just my humble opinion and we all like different things so het ho.
I Am still looking forward to a test drive in what at the moment is the only fully electric 2 seater roadster you can purchase here in the uk. Plus a seven year warranty just adds to the attraction as I head towards retirement.

Agree re the looks - M3 (esp white) is boring. The new M3P at least has a proper rear spoiler and defuser and a front lip to differentiate it from the 2 ‘normal’ models. The ‘highland’ facelift has IMHO made it look quite a bit sleeker and more modern.

I haven’t seen the Cyberster in the flesh yet but even if it looks incredible I’m struggling to justify £60k on an MG.

I was lucky enough to see a red one in the flesh and have a sit in it last year at MG Chorley.
In my opinion it’s actually better looking in the flesh than in pictures.
Price wise I get what you mean but am sure when the Porsche boxter comes out next year with options it will be over the £100k mark and no doubt without a 7 year warranty.
Guess time will tell if more options become available for a fully electric 2 seater convertible.

But The Model 3 is at least £20k premium over the American model and has less power. Hard to justify as well with 0% being the USP. Within a year they wont be worth over £40,000 for the performance model used, they usually discount if sales numbers drop. The model 3 is also £63k without FSD (£6400) but enhanced autopilot. Colour options costs as well (£1300-£2000). My mate came up against a model 3 in his F type V8. Post 60 the combustion engine was just getting started lol

The MG is still a traditional car in many ways. Still has stalks, storage and manual glovebox. Still common sense applied in places aside from the doors. The steering wheel blocking the screen applies to people who sit up close to the steering wheel. Either way can always find a way to order the Yoke from China if it becomes a pain. .

There's already a huge shipment of Cybersters in Bristol Port held up by red tape. Which will go to first orders. A good amount will be demo and display cars. I'm sure there will be a secondary shipment of the remaining late orders from 3 to 6 months ago on arriving in September

Majority of dealers will only have one demo and one static car which they'll have to make a choice between the trophy or GT. It makes sense to rotate them regularly as they both should be used from time to time. Maybe alternate them from week to week. That's what Id do. Its an effort to do. If you cant offer test drive of either car then youre buying one blind I guess.
