Cyberster - what we know so far

But The Model 3 is at least £20k premium over the American model and has less power. Hard to justify as well with 0% being the USP. Within a year they wont be worth over £40,000 for the performance model used, they usually discount if sales numbers drop. The model 3 is also £63k without FSD (£6400) but enhanced autopilot. Colour options costs as well (£1300-£2000). My mate came up against a model 3 in his F type V8. Post 60 the combustion engine was just getting started lol

The MG is still a traditional car in many ways. Still has stalks, storage and manual glovebox. Still common sense applied in places aside from the doors. The steering wheel blocking the screen applies to people who sit up close to the steering wheel. Either way can always find a way to order the Yoke from China if it becomes a pain. .

There's already a huge shipment of Cybersters in Bristol Port held up by red tape. Which will go to first orders. A good amount will be demo and display cars. I'm sure there will be a secondary shipment of the remaining late orders from 3 to 6 months ago on arriving in September

Majority of dealers will only have one demo and one static car which they'll have to make a choice between the trophy or GT. It makes sense to rotate them regularly as they both should be used from time to time. Maybe alternate them from week to week. That's what Id do. Its an effort to do. If you cant offer test drive of either car then youre buying one blind I guess.
The biggest problem with the rotation of trophy and GT demo cars, from a dealer point of view, is that we are only allowed to register one as a demo at a time with MG and the ones that arent registered will be covered by unit stocking whereas they become fully paid by the dealer as soon as they are registered

Hopefully, Cyberster deliveries should be well under way by October.
If not they’ll be losing my custom for sure. It’s not like they (MG) didn’t know there’d be UK legislation etc to get through. I’m personally hoping there'll be an influx of traded in Taycan 4Ss in early Sept that come in below my £70k limit. Can’t say MGs customer service fills me with confidence.

The GTS at 1-2 year old can be had for that. With the mk2 arriving id be wary on the depreciation of the mk1. Cross Turismo looks good tbh.

Might be worth waiting a month or two to see more knocked of these. It doesn't get better but i see them depreciating further.

MK2 has been out a few months now ( slightly changed front bumper and lights and lots of improvement on range / efficiency) but the MK1s are still going very quickly. I went to view one yesterday in Bristol (‘23 4S saloon in red up at £73k) when I checked this morning it had been sold (for sticker price) - don’t think Porsche do discounts! Ideally I want the saloon, or maybe the sport turismo (dependant on colour) but personally don’t like the cross turismo - although the one on the link above is a mega spec for that price.

I think i underestimated the size of a shipment. This was from earlier this year. Over 4000 MGs. Which means they can ship a years allocation in one shipment of Cybersters and not bother again for 12 months. I suppose theyll be skipping UK afterwards and heading into Europe and theres Mexico and South America!

You had my hopes up... not a single cyberster in sight

I've repeatedly been told these are being built to order... really don't imagine seeing more than 500 in that first shipment...but good to know it's not 2 by 2 lol

My order was only made in July, but silver lining is dealer based in Bristol. Hoping someone' relinquishes their yellow trophy with red interior

Up until you make the order and sign for payment you can change your order. The selection of cars are in UK. They only need to deliver your choice post Test Drive and dealer check. Which can be a week to a month. They would have sent a number of each choice

It shouldnt be difficult to transport 4 to 7 cars to your local dealer from 500-1000+ Cybersters for customers to collect after checking them and updating any settings, charging it before handover. The rest will stay in storage until further orders are fulfilled. There may come a time surplus are sent to replace current demos after 12 months. I dont think they will overestimate the numbers and have too many sitting at Bristol or in Storage

Unless MG do what they did for the original MG4 launch and send entire shiploads of orange Trophy cars, so those who wanted a different colour ended up waiting several months for their new car.
(It's me. I'm "those".)

A nice car for sure, but hardly an option for those wanting a 2 door cabriolet roadster!
Am fortunate to own a Z4 and SLK as an option for the convertible am just very impatient when it comes to swopping cars. Very frustrating when I placed an official order on 25th April I had put a deposit down months before that and still have no idea when I will see the car. I believe some customers already have a delivery date allocated.
The Taycans are certainly a bargain at the moment the depreciation is horrendous. Hope the Cyberster fairs better. My Ford Mach E has also suffered depreciation but not to the extent of the Taycan. Fingers crossed I will have a drive over to the MG dealer tomorrow and see if they have any update.

I don't blame you for the frustration, MG dealer coms certainly don't usually seem to be the best.

I know a few on here will strongly disagree with me, but I fully expect Cyberster depreciation to be just as heavy as the Taycan, if not worse. There is zero kudos to the MG brand, it's very much still seen as budget and this isn't going to help a premium priced sports car offering do well on residual value.

(I must confess to wishing for that to be the case though, as plan to buy used in a couple of years time!)

Guess it’s all dependent on if MG flood the market. At the moment there are over 650 Taycans for sale on the autotrader with even the new generation 2 models brand new now being discounted.
Only time will tell on how the Cyberster will fare for depreciation once it hits the market place.
The fact dealers are unable to pre register lots of cars can only assist in keeping values high. I suspect if sales targets aren’t being met then the manufacturer will need to have a re think on this strategy
Hopefully after a trip to the dealers today I can update this thread with more information.

That's not my understanding of build to order, if I pair it up with JIT manufacturing, which makes sense for such a niche car/pricing... I really wouldn't expect anything past the numbers of paid deposits + maybe 20%

Well good luck to everyone who’s pre-ordered that you’ll eventually get your cars. Unfortunately I’ve had to cancel my pre-order this morning as a change in personal circumstances means that the money I’d set aside needs to go elsewhere. I’m sure I’ll be back (when the financial side of things is right) as I’m so gutted.
