Yep all ready. Car plugged in ready on evse timer. Washing machine set up on its timer. Electric bikes ready on charger, Dinner will be cooked during the free allocation. Cant think of anything else I can do. I dont have immersion heaters or house batteries unfortunately, perhaps one day.?

Hmm not quite free electric for the hour it appears. It only free for any extra over what you normaly use.
Still better than nothing.?

And if I had anything else to plug in, I would. No washing to do, no drying ready.

I'd usually be running off the battery at this time of day, so hopefully mostly free.

I reckon I used about 8.25kWh according to the Givenergy App. Don't know what my average is for 12-1300 though to work out the difference.

(I could no doubt download all the data and work it out but I'll just wait for Octopus to tell me!)

Huh. I had charged the car to full the previous night, its first (deliberate) overnight scheduled charge, as the export tariff just kicked in a week ago. So I really had nowhere to put the freebie. I thought about all the ways I could re-jig the system, but it would have been a fair bit of fiddling for pocket change, so I didn't bother. Maybe next time.

I expect we might have got £2 worth, but we will see.

If I managed to use say 8kw in that hour topping the car, it would have saved me 8 x 8.5p = 68p that I would have otherwise put in overnight. maybe a washload which is only a few pence.
So not too bothered about missing out on an hour. Hopefully they might do longer sessions sometime.

Fair enough - not so valuable to those with overnight rates, which we don't currently have (expect we will switch in September).

Perhaps in the future the free sessions will be overnight though, particularly in Autumn/Winter.

Thanks for that. I hadn't signed up because of the full car at the last free slot, so didn't get any notification. I've signed up now, so hopefully I will get the notification.

The car is sitting at around 60% now waiting to be charged for the start of a road trip on Tuesday morning. I can swipe what I can get either Sunday or Monday. I just have to remember to set the house battery to charge at the same time (although it will be at 100%) to avoid the Zappi draining it while it charges, and get everything from the mains.
