I have to say thanks to this forum - I have the same boot water problem and will be booking it in tomorrow. I have removed most of the water before it does any damage, but it pretty soaked in there.

An update.
Took my MG4 back to the dealer (Wangara MG in Perth, Aus). They were keen to sort me out quickly. They diplomatically asked if perhaps I had left the tailgate ajar during our recent heavy storms and didnt doubt my answer for a second. It appears that when they had the aftermarket rear dashcam fitted the installer hadnt fixed a panel or grommet correctly (I didnt quite catch the finer details). They aren't happy with the installer at all, and have kept the car over the weekend to ensure everything is sealed, and dried out and no damage to anything is done. They gave me a loan car and were terribly apologetic.
Basically 5stars for service - and not an actual fault with the car.
PS - I was sad to drive an ICE loan car home, I am already hooked on regen braking etc.
PPS a photo attached just for interest sake - which was after I had already removed some water

Mine is still moist. Took it for a service at 10k miles today and mentioned it - first gen SE with rear privacy glass. They think there is a service bulletin about it and a parts kit to order in (sealant of some sort). Does anybody have access to check?

They reckon it’s a 2 day job to let it cure and to top it off I need a new NSF track rod as it’s knocking (they say under warranty but I’ll believe it when I see it) Urgh.

Not good to need a track rod. What mileage have you done? EVs are notoriously hard on suspension components.

10K but it’s been rattling for at least 3k miles.

There was a guy in Germany who had one fail early on as I recall. I’m fairly certain the initial batch of cars had some occasional duff ones on.

Dropped in today as they said the sealant arrived on Wed (along with the TRE). I’m pretty sure it is as people have said vents under the rear bumper - I’ll do some asking when I pick it up next Saturday. Until then I’m back to dinosaur juice in my other car. Left it a week as I started a new job last Monday and they reckon it’s at least two days as they wait for it to cure. Plus the dealer is a bit out of the way.

Car is back and I was nosing at the paperwork on the desk. There is a bulletin with the instructions on how to fix, I saw a picture on there of how to strip down - the car in the pic was white. Bumper off job.

TRE changed under warranty (but there was a slight hiccup steering wheel was off centre ergo tracking was out - should have said something but getting it in again and burning dino juice for a week I paid someone local to track it). Annnnnnnnnd I have the temperature display whooop - with the new head unit sw.

Let’s see how the rain goes.

Sorry it was in their bundle of paperwork, I wasn’t given anything. It does exist though. Looks to be a bumper off job and a specific sealant for the fix.

After the monsoon my leak is back. Urrrrgh out of ideas. Due to work I lose my car for a week each time. Last week was out of it because of a puncture. Feels like not much point having an EV at this rate as it feels like I’m forever in another car.

Dropping off at dealers on Saturday, when I collect it I may ask them to pre book another appointment as this will be the 4th visit. Once to one with the watering can lol, twice to the other and to them again now

Well (see what I did there) they have had it a week. I call them and after my somewhat irritated nature on dropping it off (it’s not in my nature to be that way but needs must) they are reluctant to give it back so another week will pass.

According to them it is as watertight as a sponge. They say the service bulletin was to seal body panels and not the vent ? So they have done the vents as it leaks from there. Test again leaks from lights, test again leaks from some clips that go through panels.

Another week burning petrol.

I have it back and I asked what do I do if it leaks again. Go back to the dealer you got it from ?

Time will tell and it’s minor in the grand scheme but keep losing the car has really put me off it as this has been going on since last November having bought it in August. 4 visits to 2 dealers. If it leaks again I have no idea where to turn other than selling it.

Also as a note the service bulletin is to seal a gap in the sealing of the bodywork behind the bumper and NOT the vents which some have mentioned before.

how is it with warranty regarding this problem.
Have the problem now, we’re leasing it and feels like no one knows anything.

Our car doesn’t even charge they told us at the mechanic. So what do you think will happen? Have had the car for 1,5 years.

I booked mine in to be checked at tomorrow's service and MOT . I'd noticed that it was not so bad lately and checked it today and it was bone dry even after all the rain we've had lately ... ain't that typical  .

It's funny how the threat of taking the car to a garage cures those intermittent problems.
