MG4 internet, data limits

Maybe there's an undocumented lifetime limit that some people have exceeded? ?‍♂️
Someone write to iSMART support and they said : "I suspect from your description that you've overspent your SIM card package. It will be restored on the first day of next month."
I never reach the limit and use a few data every month. But I went abroad mid august so maybe the data was use out of plan and the eSIM was shut down like when you use all the data ?
I'll check in september...
 
I have just had the same message. I also wrote to MG describing the lack of data nav etc. This is the reply.

May I make a confirmation: did you use the hotspot feature? Or spend more time on Amazon Music?

This is what I sent.

Good afternoon. I am experiencing problems with the data connection in my MG4 Luxury. The traffic data will not update as well as the weather forecast. The hotspot will not work and the sim data strength seems to fluctuate all the time. Are you aware of a network problem? Please advise


I have written back asking what is the data limit but so far no reply.

I will also have to wait until September to see if it comes back.
If this is the case I shouldn’t complain. After all I never expected to have free data 18 months ago when I brought the car. And the car is a brilliant trouble free buy for me.
No complaints (apart from Lka!)
 
Hmm maybe I have the same issue. Since comming back from holiday in York the weather widget is unable to update the weather info.

Navigation seems to work, but haven’t checked traffic updates yet.

Question: any way to monitor the data usage? Heck, I don’t even know what the data limit is.

Will see what happens on September 1st but will contact my dealer none the less, this should simply not happen imo.

In the meantime I’ll try connecting the carto my iPhone’s hotspot
 
No way to monitor the data consumption.

And after thinking twice, I don't know how the var could jam the data toggle if the fair use is passed!?!

Just block the data will be enough. So I just have to wait untill September now...
 
Not used the hotspot & my car seems fine for weather etc
I wonder if it's like my broadband 4g backup, pre loaded with 50GB where you have to contact them to top it up if you run out
Seems odd the lack of knowledge from MG

If that's correct (and I have no reason to doubt it as I've now lost my internet connection) it must have changed recently. My wife streamed at least 4 hours of Netflix on our last journey down from Scotland just under 2 weeks ago and apparently SD Netflix uses 1GB an hour. Hey ho..

Interesting if true. Also annoying, as we don't have any way to view the data usage.
 
Just recently I can’t connect to Amazon music unlimited. Maybe it’s the data allowance although I’d never heard that from the dealer and we don’t use the hotspot. But it’s been a bit on-off for months. Is this what others are finding? The lack of information is the real issue, leaving us guessing. ? I love driving the car but the infotainment system is not to the same standard unfortunately.

This is the first month we have experienced a problem with the data. And we have had the car 18 months. We always put the hotspot on but rarely use Amazon music. Mainly because the signal can be a bit patchy here in southern Spain. So I have a tendency to agree with haloweenhamster I think it’s a recent change. After all who would expect unlimited data forever on a new car? Incidentally I thought I would test the E-CALL system just to make sure it doesn’t rely on the Data. It worked perfectly (I had to explain to the operator here in Spain it was a mistake!!!!). lol.

Still very very happy with the car.

Sounds like a load of ?
I haven't had the hotspot turned on as I don't use it so I haven't used any of the alleged 1 GB allowance. When I tested it to see if worked yesterday, it didn't.

I note that you're in Spain and thus the arrangements appear to be different to those in the UK. We shall see if they change but I have had no problems.
 
Hi all,

Is there a data limit with the connection on the MG4 and if so does it refresh and give data again? My built in sat nav is not adding traffic data, Amazon app has stopped working and my weather widget is not updating. I have checked the data switch in settings but no change.

I was using the built in Amazon music app for streaming and I wonder if this has exhausted data allowance?

there is another thread that goes into some of these recent issues (but we were not aware of any limit, but MG support suggest there is now a limit in place and all will reset tomorrow - I have my doubts :D)

 
Indeed, we will see on Sunday. What a customer relation desaster. No matter what we will see as result, it is hard to believe a car brand can afford such an appal**** attitude to its customers.
