Has anyone else had this. I went to top up my tank was showing 85% I pulled upto pump removed cap then noticed it was a pay at till pump. I got back in reversed to an pay at pump. After click saying full tightened cap got in and started car. The tank still showed 85% with same mileage.

So about 9hrs later it has updated. Not sure if it was starting and reversing with cap of confused it.

Another quirk of a pretty good car.

I don't know about MGs but I know that Toyotas need at least 10 litres of fuel to be put in before the car registers that any fuel has been added.

In my humble opinion it's not a big deal and it doesn't matter.

It's just the level of the float that hasn't yet given the information to the MG3's central computer.

After a restart and after a few minutes, the 100 % should appear on the dashboard and Ismart...

It was over 9 hrs and a few drives later. Not really concerned just put it up there in case it happens to anyone else. Never had a car in over40+ years of driving fail to register. Slave to the computer saying no. (Old ref for those who get it)

Keep an eye on it. I had a brand new Skoda that needed the float changed under warranty in the first month of ownership. It could be just a rogue part that slipped through. Or it could be just a glitch that might not happen again. I'd be more concerned if it stuck in the full setting and didn't register a low fuel level.

I had a similar issue on previous DS3, and didn't do anything about it. Earlier this year the problem became continuous, however at nearly six years old by this stage the car was well out of warranty. As a result it cost me around 700 quid for a new fuel pump and sender.
I would have it checked, albeit you could be starting the merry-go-round which I'm currently on regarding the Engine Emissions fault, which the car is booked in for AGAIN next week!
Going off topic for a moment, these days it's simply impossible to speak to a service department, instead you go through to a central bookings team.
