Newbee here my wife and I are looking to buy Mg3 + Trophy hybrid we are having difficulty in getting reasonable insurance quotes
Anyone care to tell me who they have their insurance with
Many thanks

I'm with saga and changed mid term. originally was £550 with an MG HS and asked for another 60 when I updated with the 3. pro rata they said reckon renewal will be 650ish.
Lowest I can get using the markets is 450 -470 but that is raising the voluntary excess.
full NCD included 40+ years but that doesn't seem to matter.

It will depend on your age. In my case, 14 years ncd and 56 years accident free driving, I was refused on some sites, even the one I was then with, because of age. I'm now with Admiral, but it cost me £969!

Thanks for your reply Wow £969 that really is horrendous

As I read you, I'm a bit frightened by the prices of your insurance in the UK.

Here in France, using a comparator, prices range from €320 to €1,000. So you're spoilt for choice.
However, 2025 is shaping up to be a difficult year for prices, as climate change is set to increase prices by 5%.

It's not called rip off Britain for nothing.
Most new cars unless Noddy car never seem to be below insurance group 15 think the MG3 SE is 23 Trophy is 24 according to parkers

I had a Hyundai i20 2015 which was in group 4 new model equivalent to the older model is now 14 - 16.

Hate to think what a new driver pays now.

Could you have a little Brexit too for your insurance?

With assistance 0 km ?
Damage excess?
Driver bodily injury protection ?
Reimbursement value if the vehicle is damaged beyond repair or stolen?
OMG I don't know what most of those things are, lol.

My Excess is £500, but I'd have to say I don't have any of the others.

It is true that your insurance is very expensive.

for my mg3 luxe, I pay 513 euros and my mg4 luxe 77 .585 euros.

both at all risks, 0 miles assistance and excess of 280 euros.

Mines to get within £450 which is around €540 I would have to pay £600 to £800 about €720 to €930 excess. That's basic no breakdown legal assistance etc. As I said rip off Britain Brexit then Covid et al just excuses for them to raise prices.

Well done you. Hastings wouldn't insure me, too old.
With me for my renewal this year £2300 now with Admiral and down to £850. Going over to the ZS EV and adding home contents down to £700 but need finalise when I get the registration number eg.

I've the same issue my HS TROPHY , full ncb no issues & insurance company wanted £75 extra for MG3 HYBRID with 6months left on existing policy !!!.
Reason given was full hybrid expense of repairs & increased BHP , the MG3 is like a toy car compared to the HS .
ABSOLUTE RIP OFF !!!

Insurance has gone crazy. My renewal quote from Aviva Zero was over £100 more than the policy I took out with esure at £370. £69 of this is for no claims protection. MG5, eternity of no claims aged 68 in rural West Yorkshire. Other offers (on Meerkat site) we're mainly £450 to £1000+

Hello, I have the MG3+Hybrid Trophy and despite the strange 'quirks' I love driving it. Bit I don't like. I have been with LV Insurance Co for years and own other vehicles. Because of my age and record I enjoy 'cheap' insurance. That is, until I bought this car! I expected to pay £250 full comp for me and my wife. Not so. Cheapest quote - £586. Stunned or what? Apparently the high price is due to the fact that the vehicle has a battery in the rear. Insurance companies don't seem to like 'EV's'? I pay twice what I expected to pay. Hope that this helps?
